It’s spring and OnePlus has just made its two new smartphones official at 4 world events. These are the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. The latter will have the heavy task of moving up the range and competing with this year’s real Premium smartphones.
Set like a Chinese clock, OnePlus is taking advantage of Spring to announce its annual smartphone. This is the OnePlus 7 but also the OnePlus 7 Pro. While the former is targeting the same market as in previous years, the new OnePlus 7 Pro aims to titillate the market for Premium smartphones, which is occupied by Samsung, Huawei and Apple.
The OnePlus 7 Pro, Premium in its ambitions
With a full screen display, OnePlus announces the basic colour since it has been known for some time now that its display looks excellent according to the very serious DisplayMate site. The OnePlus 7 Pro features a 6.67-inch Fluid OLED display with QuadHD+ (1440×3120) resolution and a density of 516 dpi. The OnePlus 7 Pro display features curved edges HDR10+ certification and above all a 90Hz refresh rate for smooth display. It is Gorilla Glass 5 and occupies 88.6% of the front surface. For the most technophiles, yes, it’s a Samsung slab! This explains why Samsung keeps a small lead with the Galaxy S10 slab like the Gorilla Glass 6 or slightly thinner edges for example.
Because the screen is integral, no notches, drops or holes in the screen, the front camera (16 Megapixels with F2.0 aperture) is a retractable camera. According to OnePlus, it opens in 0.65 seconds and has been tested to withstand some 300,000 openings. When deployed, it is dust resistant and when closed, it makes the OnePlus 7 Pro water resistant. Be careful, at OnePlus, there is resistance but we still don’t talk about IPxx certification.
Similar to the Oppo Reno’s 10x zoom variation, OnePlus uses the same principle on its 7 Pro with a triple camera on the back. The main camera features the famous Sony IMX586 48 Megapixel sensor with F1.6 aperture and dual optical and electronic stabilization. The autofocus of the main unit combines phase detection, laser and contrast detection. The second camera is a telephoto lens with an 8 Megapixel sensor. It is optically stabilized and allows a 3x optical zoom And last but not least, the latest camera is an ultra-wide-angle with a field of view of 117° and an aperture of F2.2.
With this new photo block, it should be noted that OnePlus did not want to take the train of 10x hybrid zooms but rather chose to focus on a 3x optical zoom but with a better aperture, which allows better performance in low light conditions. On the side, OnePlus brings some new software features such as the UltraShot mode which combines several photos and HDR to offer the best possible photo. OnePlus has also reworked its Night mode, more efficient and faster. The 7 Pro can record movies up to 4K at 60fps and of course benefits from optical and electronic stabilization on the main camera. In any case, according to DxOMark Mobile, the OnePlus 7 Pro offers a score of 111, which places it in the Top 3 photophones.

If the price goes up and starts to hit the premium smartphone market, it will be noted that it is still more accessible than its competitors at Samsung, Huawei or Apple.
As of May 15, 2019, OnePlus will offer a flash sale on its website. And as of May 18, OnePlus 7 Pro will be available as a pop-up in certain Fnacs and finally, OnePlus 7 Pro will be officially available from May 21.

The OnePlus 7, successor to the 6T
For the OnePlus 7, it is indeed the real successor to the OnePlus 6T, as it takes over the design and dimensions of the OnePlus 6T. Only a small gram on the scale and a back with a Dark Grey mirror finish marks the physical difference between a 7 and a 6T.
Of course, OnePlus has made a few updates with a new SoC, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, from the UFS 3.0, or a new photo block featuring the new 48 Megapixel Sony IMX 586 sensor (discovered at Xiaomi and Oppo) coupled with a second 5 Megapixel sensor for depth of field calculation.
