Waiting for the announcement that the subscription for The Elder Scrolls Online, an MMORPG set in the universe of the famous franchise (including Skyrim, Morrowind and Oblivion), has been abandoned, is now official with a new cinematic.
Zenimax Online has just confirmed the abandonment of this model by offering from March 17th for PC and Mac players a “Tamriel Unlimited”edition, which will allow you to survey the vast areas of Tamriel, and access “hundreds of hours of content”, alone or with others. The only prerequisite to enjoy it is to buy the game anyway (which is sold for about 20 € on Amazon).
With this change in Business model – a result of the title’s very mixed success in the MMO market – The Elder Scrolls Online will have an item-shop that promises “personalization and comfort” items in exchange for Crowns, the premium currency that can be purchased for real money. However, a subscription will still be available: called “ESO Plus”, it corresponds to additional content such as a set of Crowns every 30 days, extensions, XP and gold bonuses. An FAQ has been set up for this occasion.
However, there is no question of reducing the number of updates, as developers will continue to offer new content as the months go by. The console version (on Xbox One and PS4) is scheduled for June 9, 2015.
