The 30 most essential Hungarian athletes of the yr 2010

The last decade is slowly coming to an finish and there’s good luck to recollect in Hungarian sport, so we searched by way of reminiscences to collect 30 athletes who had been both always looking out for his or her outcomes or had been hit by a serious storm within the media. trigger.

30. Nikolett Szepesi

Humorous however the highway to Olympic victory is paved with discarded cotons, semen-filled handkerchiefs and quick, meaningless, emotion-free cures.

Such sturdy phrases and statements are echoed within the e book I, the Intercourse Man, which allowed a retired swimmer in 2010 to achieve entry to our high 30 listing, as half of the nation was guessing who the curvy-footed footballer he was involved with , who needed to make it from behind to not see an previous man embrace him or whoever the superstar woman he had spent a sizzling evening with.

His former European Championship bronze medalist e book lastly grew to become a critical afterlife after describing intimately how he had been harassed by a masseuse, a sure Little Uncle who was then acquitted on the finish of police proceedings. Inspired by the success of the primary e book, Szepesi got here up with the second installment, however in useless described how the three males had been pampered by a swinger membership, The Orgasm Factors disappeared within the sink. After the boys's embrace, it’s now occupied by motherhood, as a result of the infant was born in the summertime.

We all know the opinion {that a} sturdy striker can solely be a profitable soccer participant with this design in Hungary, however in any case Böde has made essentially the most of it, as Fradival grew to become a champion and a scorer, and he had essential targets within the nationwide group.

Along with his easy, honest fashion, Böde has attracted quite a lot of followers, he mentioned and not using a drawback after the sport if he felt they weren't environment friendly sufficient (“we started to poke”), however he grew to become a verge of a Norwegian greasy-to-cheek when he revealed his secret (“I'm a hundred pounds, fuck, what's my secret?”).

He began the 2010s with Paks, which gained the silver medal in 2011 and was the longest draw among the many worldwide cup groups, falling to the Scottish Hearts within the third spherical of the qualifying spherical. He proved to Fradi in 2012, the place he scored 17 targets twice and was inconceivable till Sergei Rebrov arrived, however didn’t match the Ukrainian coach's fashion, so he returned to Paks, although his coronary heart nonetheless drags him to his capital as his girlfriend Blanka.

NB has scored 128 targets to date in his profession in Division I and is taken into account to be essentially the most profitable participant.

Following the 2008 promotion of the Sapporo Miracle, in 2010 in Ljubljana, and in Budapest in 2011, 2013 and 2018, the boys's hockey group was again to be a member of Group A.

In 2015, an enormous feat got here collectively in Krakow, and in 2016, with a implausible victory over Belarusians in Russia's elite, there was an opportunity to combat for survival, however it didn't work out.

The youthful member of the Iron Brothers, John, was already in Sapporo to have a good time the Krakow promotion with the remainder, and he was a senior on this yr's Kazakhstan match, and he selected us as a result of he had spent a decade in fixed hope as followers had been all the time hoping for Group A after the 2008 miracle.

Previously drafted by the Dallas Stars however not but reaching the NHL, Vas performed within the US, Sweden, France, Czech Republic, performed in EBEL's White Citadel, and is at present a member of the Slovakian DVTK Polar Bear hockey and factors per recreation common. 27. Douchev-Janics Natasa

He began 2010 as a three-time Olympic champion and seemed to lose his luck, successful three EBs and three World Championship golds within the first yr of the last decade. She missed 2011 because of the beginning of her little daughter Milana, however nonetheless attended the London Olympics, successful 500 silver in a pair with Katalin Kovács and ending third in 200 every.

Then the bomb exploded: it turned out that Janic wished to compete in Serbian colours, and the Hungarian federation reacted by asking the Serbs to pay 150,000 euros, take the kayak, however the story took an surprising flip when Janic returned.

That keep was a superb choice was mirrored in his outcomes on the 2013 European Championships, two gold and two bronze in Janics' assortment, and that very same yr he swept a World Cup gold.

26. Nikolics Nemanja

He hadn't spent a few years within the Bundesliga like Adam Szalai, nor had he scored targets for large cannons like Gergely Rudolf, who was in opposition to Roma, Juventus and Milan, but Nikolics knew one thing that set him aside from different Hungarian strikers. Anybody who can win 4 targets in a row whereas enjoying in three completely different leagues have to be acknowledged for being a dependable scorer in soccer.

Nikolics, after his most efficient season in Hungary (21 targets in Videoton), was nonetheless capable of put him on a shovel and led the Polish Legion with 28 and 6 targets respectively.

Then he went dwelling to the American Championship for some motive, the place he was the highest scorer in his first yr in Chicago, with David Villa, Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore on the beat.

“I am happy with my silver medal, but it was an unprecedented occasion,” he mentioned when he misplaced to Kim Hjeon Vu of South Korea within the last of the London Olympics after which consoled with Eb gold medals for the following two years.

He switched after Rio, left the 66kg weight class, and he did properly, incomes bronze in two Ebs and this yr's Europe Video games, silver within the 2017 Paris and 2018 Budapest. It has lengthy been talked about within the trade that there’s a younger man who’s able to very critical issues, however when the 2017 Budapest Water Warbler made it to the nationwide high of the 100 butterflies, he rapidly grew to become identified on the earth.

In 2018, he gained his first ever grownup gold medal on the World Championships when he beat the European Championship within the 200m butterfly, and after such a historical past he was not stunned to pack three gold and one silver in his suitcase on the Buenos Aires Youth Olympics.

This yr was the time of the nice fortress showdown, correcting Michael Phelps's world report on the Korean World Championships by eight-tenths, the second Seto sitting on the throne by three seconds. Though he mentioned he would strive 200 and 400 m quick, we’d be very stunned if the main focus was not on Tokyo's 200 butterflies.

Szabo has been a pacesetter in each single unit because the Beijing Olympics, and he has one thing to be happy with: he has eight gold medals for the 2010 vault by way of doubles and fours, and 6 for the Eb, although the final one was hanged in 2016.

After Rio, he didn’t really feel too motivated, thought of retiring and altered coach, however neither Péter Likér nor Gergely Hadvina succeeded, and ultimately he joined up along with his former coach, László Tóth. The most recent growth is that he might be leaving his membership, the Honved, after 11 years, however it might have been this shift to achieve new momentum earlier than the Olympics.

19. Balázs Baji

Probably the most profitable yr of his profession started with divorcing his spouse after which, in two weeks, strolling down El Camino in the course of the offseason, killing him with Achilles within the open season.

Nonetheless, strolling is definitely worth the effort to recharge, because it was a historic success in London in 2017, with the bronze on the 110m hurdle, and have become the primary Hungarian athlete to face on the World Cup podium in a working quantity.

With 3-Four hours of exercise a day dedicated to the veterinary faculty, he says he wished to decide on a job that he actually desires and is critical about, and similar to athletics.

He was injured within the spring of 2019 and needed to have surgical procedure on his thighs and knees, so he’s at present within the means of being again within the 100% situation by the beginning of the outside season.

When the talk broke out after the municipal election over whether or not to prepare Budapest within the 2023 World Athletics Championships and construct a brand new stadium for the occasion, Baji, who has additionally gained the World Cup bronze and Eb silver, was one of many loudest supporters of each instances. After all, his level is completely comprehensible, which athlete wouldn’t prefer to compete in entrance of a home viewers?

18. Chew buttercup

He was 17 years previous when the nation got here to know his identify as a result of he got here dwelling with two golds (200m butterfly, 400m quick) and a silver (200m quick) from the primary Youth Olympics. In 2012, he gained 800 gold medals on the Eb in his hometown, Debrecen, and completed in sixth place in the identical quantity on the London Olympics.

Though the Budapest vault didn’t make it to the rostrum, the draw is that it has returned to the 200 butterflies, as final yr's Eb featured a gold medal to showcase the potential on this quantity, and this yr it peaked when the Korean vault obtained dizzy he gained along with his hair.

17. Balázs Dzsuzsák

Judeo began the yr 2010 again within the Dutch PSV Eindhoven, and was then justified by the Dagestan membership Anzsi Mahachskala, who broke out of nowhere by way of an oligarch, and by the jockeys who had seen the people hero within the extremes from Nyírlugos from then on, he was always thrown into the attention of selecting cash over profession.

Nevertheless, Judeja may go even farther from Anzhi, as Dinamo Moscow purchased it for 19 million euros, which remains to be the best quantity paid for a Hungarian footballer.

From there, nonetheless, the highway led downhill, and Judeja was acclaimed as a celeb by a crowd, both breaking his automobile or leaving the Chain Bridge, or warming up with Linda Zimany, the tabloid press.

The truth is, with some too candid or unlucky statements by Judeja, he has given himself an attacking floor, however says loads concerning the Hungarian mentality that, because the euphoria after the Eb rings, he has been fouled by his two targets in opposition to the Portuguese, saying they had been each bounced.

One of the divisive personalities of Hungarian sport can be out of the nationwide group, and though it has been troublesome to chop a five-minute video from his flashes because the European Championships, everybody could also be fooled by the concept that Balázs Jujzsák will play 108 nationwide matches this spring.

16. Dénes Varga

Whoever was there’ll always remember: The Dénes Exhausting gold set needed to beat the USA within the Beijing last to win its third Olympic title, main 3-2 within the first quarter, however then Dénes Varga from such an inconceivable angle equalized with a brilliantly unbeaten objective from which lots of of gamers cross.

At 5:50 you will note the unforgettable objective:

There was every part within the motion that we admired and admired for Dumi: the Hungarian fifteen, the coolness, and the truth that the adversary is aware of that one thing further may be anticipated of him, he can all the time pull out an much more surprising model of the cylinder.

After successful the primary decade of the 2000 Olympic Gold, within the second decade, we gained 5 medals within the three most essential tournaments, the Olympics, the Eb and the vault, however solely considered one of them gained gold on the 2013 Barcelona World Cup group led by Tibor Benedek.

One yr later, Varga was chosen as the most effective participant within the match on the European Championship in Budapest, the place the Serbs beat us easily within the last. The squad, due to this fact, has loads of scarcity in Varga, who has been racking up trophies along with his golf equipment, for instance, with Fradi over the previous two seasons – two league titles, two Hungarian Cups, a Champions League, a LEN Cup, a Hungarian and two European Tremendous Cups. crop – so it's no surprise that in 2019 he was chosen as the most effective polo on the earth.

15. Éva Risztov

An unbelievable story in his movie: Three and a half years after his retirement in 2005, a cellphone got here from Debrecen, what if he tried swimming once more? As a substitute of swimming, he plunged into long-distance working, virtually from scratch, and topped his return in London for the 10-mile race: he selected the kamikaze tactic at Hyde Park Serpentine's 19-degree lake, staying out of the battles, and eventually he had sufficient energy to resist the assault by American Haley Anderson.

One of the surprising Olympic championship titles of all time, his identify was seen by solely three Hungarian journalists on the scene, the others went on a kayak-canoe promising gold that day, after which one way or the other attempting to beat themselves in Hyde Park in London visitors.

14. Anita Márton

The Szeged Shotgun is essentially the most dependable athlete of the Hungarian athletics within the final decade, since yearly since 2014 there was at the very least one world competitors that he may return dwelling with a medal. The collection began with a bronze on the European Championships in Zurich, then a yr later, with a gold of 19.23 meters on the European Open in Prague

Nevertheless, the primary occasion of 2016 was the Rio Olympics, the place he set a person report within the last along with his final throw (19.87), and the bronze medal meant that he gained the Olympic medal once more after 1968 for a Hungarian girls's athlete.

In 2017 he continued with a World Championship silver in London, and final yr wrote historical past, gained the indoor observe and discipline athlete in Birmingham, and have become the primary world champion in Hungarian athletics. 13. Krisztián Pars

Following the 2008 Olympics and fourth place within the 2009 World Cup, the psychological barrier broke by way of the hammer launcher in 2010, when he was first medaled on the World Cup in Barcelona. In 2013, the Moscow vault was awarded a silver medal, after which defended his title on the Eb in 2014 and in addition improved his particular person finest (82.69m). 12. Anita Görbicz

Not many Hungarian athletes can declare to have gained eight instances in a very powerful worldwide cup and gained the finals 5 instances. Görbicz's idea in Hungarian handball, the icon of Győr, is an instinctive genius who now performs much less in his membership, however has all the time superior in his heyday when he was shaky and hit a group with a sold-out seven or a shock cross for everybody.

Some don’t have any luck with the quantity 13. Photograph: Attila Kisbenedek / AFP

In January 2019, he renewed his contract by two years in Győr, and seeing the energy of the group, it was sanssi that he wouldn’t retire as a five-time BL winner. With the nationwide group within the final decade, he gained the most effective bronze medal within the European Championships in 2012, however he didn’t end eighth within the World Championships, falling behind each the London and Rio Olympics.

Görbicz married former nationwide soccer participant Ottó Vincze, a sporty dream couple who has since been a frequent participant on tabloids.

11. László Cseh

The swimmer, who is likely to be essentially the most offended by the truth that an alien named Michael Phelps was on his tracks, couldn’t even retire correctly, however modified his thoughts. Though the Czech Republic's most profitable Olympics, the three silver medalists in Beijing had been again in 2008, they returned dwelling with two medals for the ultimate decade, and the trio tied within the 100 butterfly with Chad le Clos and Phelps in Rio was in all probability not solely ours .

As well as, that silver got here near gold because it had risen from an infinite depth after the 200 butterflies failed miserably and have become solely seventh. Nevertheless, a yr earlier, he beat the sphere in implausible competitors on the Kazan World Championships, and one yr after the Olympics, he additionally crawled a silver within the water truthful on the Danube Enviornment.

Whereas this rollercoaster trip has been a characteristic of the Czech Republic lately, it have to be remembered what number of instances he struggled with a worse efficiency, and that he had had the showroom for years earlier than the Katinka Lengthy explosion. On the identical time, the spring nationwide championship may be decisive for his profession: he has repeatedly acknowledged that if he doesn’t really feel the facility, he is not going to proceed his efforts and can throw the Olympics.

10. Márton Fucsovics

In 2010, he gained with out jockey in Wimbledon among the many juniors, and everybody at dwelling obtained his head kicked out of the Davis Cup group a yr later due to poor perspective by captain Miklós Hornok. Lastly, he realized that as an emperor of the evening, he wouldn’t turn out to be a critical tennis participant, and in 2013, he completed the yr within the high 200 on the earth rankings.

Nevertheless, he broke into the highest 100 solely in the summertime of 2017, and in the identical yr took the lead in bringing the DK group again to the World Group by defeating the Russians. He began 2018 brilliantly, ending eighth within the Australian Open, ending with 13th-ranked Sam Querrey, and 16th over Swiss legend Roger Federer.

9. Krisztián Berki

If somebody is chosen thrice by sports activities journalists between 2010 and 2014, the place is certainly right here, although sadly, when the identify is heard by many, the celebrity-inducing superstar jumps in.

Berki gained three World Championship golds within the years simply talked about, however reached the height of his profession in London, the place he was not surprised by the truth that the O2 Enviornment crowd cheered Louis Smith to take the lead.

After the 2014 World Cup success, just one Eb-silver got here collectively, reaching the destiny of gymnasts: they needed to have a shoulder surgical procedure. In April 2017 he completed second within the Cluj European Championships and once more missed once more attributable to shoulder surgical procedure. Berki deliberate a giant comeback this yr, however earlier than the Stuttgart World Cup, one other surgical procedure disadvantaged him of a combat for one more Olympics.

8. László Nagy

There are gamers who shouldn’t have to attain each second assault to be thought of a pacesetter by the group, sufficient to get the group on the proper second with a well-directed sentence or a always successful mentality. László Nagy was such, and it’s no coincidence that the Spaniards had been very eager to naturalize, however failed, so he completed fourth within the London Olympics as a member of the Hungarian nationwide group.

On the 2012 Olympics, Nagy, who had been despatched dwelling as a Veszprém participant, had gained the championship and cup gold, however he could have a critical sense of lack, having performed thrice within the BL last along with his membership.

Particularly the failure of 2016 may have induced a really deep wound, when Kielce had 9 targets in opposition to Veszprém, however the Poles may rampage ultimately after a most unlikely flip.

This yr's BL Last was taken by an injured shoulder, the final match of his former profession. He remained within the sport, as Veszprém's sports activities director and vice-president of the federation, attempting to show that it was not solely on the sphere that it was value listening to.

7. Daniel Gyurta

On the age of 14, he grew to become the favourite of a rustic when he gained a silver medal on the Olympics in Athens and will have been an everlasting promise of a sudden fame, however with a tough work to reclaim: from 2009 to 2015 it didn't matter or world championship, he didn’t cross gold to a different in 200 breasts.

When Gyurta obtained to the beginning, one may sit down in entrance of the TV figuring out that regardless of how far he was at 100 meters, he didn’t must squeeze the distant management, as a result of ultimately he would come for the inimitable hair. Opposite to the London Olympics, he had already modified his third fifty beats, however he needed to, as a result of British Jamieson was very late within the last meters.

His statements typically led to his being pompous, albeit solely with a wholesome sense of confidence, after which everybody may verify his coronary heart when he made a medal in reminiscence of a younger Norwegian swimmer, Alexander Dale Oen, who he personally took to the household.

Following his retirement in 2018, he’s on the sports activities diplomacy line, is a member of the Worldwide Olympic Committee, the chairman of the Hungarian Swimming Federation, a ministerial adviser within the Ministry of Overseas Commerce and Overseas Affairs, and that is superb for him.

6. Michelisz Norbert

A hímesházai Charles Leclerc, a hazai nagymamák kedvence, aki mindig feladja a leckét a bulvárlapoknak, mert igazi jófiú, akivel kapcsolatban soha nem lehet semmilyen szaftos sztorit előhúzni. A pályafutását autóverseny-szimulátorokkal kezdő Michelisz 2010-ben teljesítette az első teljes évét – nyert is egy futamot Makaóban – a túraautó-vébén (WTCC), amit a Forma-1-hez szokott ember eleinte nehezen vett komolyan, fura volt például, hogy a túl gyors autókat plusz súlyokkal próbálták lassítani.

Aztán ahogy Michelisz szépen fokozatosan lépegetett előre, jöttek a több tízezer embert megmozgató hazai versenyek a Hungaroringen, és már egy egész ország drukkolt neki. A Zengő Motorsportnál töltött évek után szintet lépett, amikor a Honda gyári pilótája lett, és 2017-ben az összetettben elért második helyezésével ő lett a magyar autósport első vb-érmese.

A WTCC és a TCR Worldwide Sequence összeolvadásából új sorozat lett (WTCR), Michelisz pedig Hyundaira váltott, és a 2018-as negyedik hely után idén öt futamgyőzelmet aratva a túraautó-világkupa győzteseként locsolhatta a pezsgőt Malajziában.

Hosszú Katinka: Ezt a meccset Shane nyerte
