The 25 Most Innocent & Naive Anime Characters (Male + Female) –

Anime is a Japanese animated television series with over 400 anime series, and other related media. These characters are innocent and naive in their own way, which makes them the perfect characters to watch.

The 1 in 9 death row innocent is a list of the 25 most innocent and naive anime characters. The list includes both male and female characters.

I have to confess that I spend more time thinking about and discussing edgelords than any other character class.

Even lightning dragon ninjas, though, will get tedious after a while.

As a result, we’re altering our tune for this list.

That’s right, today we’ll take a look at the polar opposite of edgelords, counting down some of the most innocent anime characters that may just appeal to our inner kid.

So here are some of the sweetest anime characters that I couldn’t live without.

Nezuko Kamado (#25)

Demon Slayer is a Japanese anime series.

I’m going to start this list with a few of characters that are both wholesome and badass.

And then there’s Nezuko, the tiny demon sister that everyone wishes they had.

Nezuko features two fundamental modes:

Her combat mode, when she seems to be a little older, has a more serious facial expression and the ability to blow up her foes.

And then there’s her naive mode, when she’s the cutest chibi character you’ve ever seen.

For the last year, the scene of her racing about while the other characters attempt to catch her has been my antidepressant, therefore it’s only natural to put her on this list.

Charmy Pappitson (#24)

Charmy Pappitson in Black Clover

Black Clover is a Japanese anime series.

Charmy is the same as Nezuko in that she has two different personalities. She does, however, get much more screen time, and her naive mode is much more severe.

She has the appearance of a plush doll, and her intellect is preoccupied with one single goal: obtaining food.

Even if there was a real battle going on outside, Charmy would find a way to hide in a corner and eat some treats, totally happy with life.

Her fierce persona does make an appearance from time to time. But it’s her wholesome manner that propels her character throughout the play.

Izuku Midoriya (age 23)

Izuku Midoriya My Hero Academia anime screenshot

My Hero Academia is an anime series based on the manga My Hero Academia.

This one seems to be counterproductive, yet My Hero Academia manages to pull it off.

Izuku strives to be the perfect hero on the battlefield. With a grin on his face, he is strong, serene, and helpful.

But it’s when he’s not fighting that we can see his real innocence.

He’s as romantically dense as they come, and after being touched on the elbow by the opposite sex, he may burst a blood vessel, giving him the shy-boy likability that anime is known for.

He’s also very naive, in my opinion, since he hasn’t really grasped how harsh and unjust the world can be.

However, this cannot be true of the manga.

Shichika Yasuri is number 22 on the list.

Shichika Yasuri in Katanagatari anime

Katanagatari is a Japanese anime series.

Shichika has no idea what she’s talking about.

He lived his whole childhood with his sister and father on an island. As a result, his ignorance is well-founded.

Given what happened to his father, I’m not sure I’d classify him as innocent… His huge knowledge gaps, though, make him a strong candidate for this list.

He also has a unique personality when it comes to his female connections.

Shichika doesn’t seem to understand what all the commotion is about, instead of blushing and fumbling dandere.

He may be butt-naked in front of a lady and be perplexed by their discomfort. In that sense, it’s a breath of new air.

21. Fushi

Fushi in To Your Eternity anime

To Your Eternity, Anime

Being a full-fledged alien is the only way to be less experienced than someone who has spent their whole life on an island.

Fushi was born into this world with no knowledge of what life was like and had to learn about it from people around him.

Let’s just say it’s been a long and arduous process.

He didn’t comprehend death at first, and more complicated emotions like romance are beyond his understanding.

So it’s like the most wholesome feeling ever everytime he takes a little step forward and matures.

Especially when it comes to Gugu.

Those two were much too tragically wholesome in one other’s company.

20. Wiz

Wiz KonoSuba anime screenshot

KonoSuba is a Japanese anime series.

Wiz defies every cliché you can think of when it comes to lich characters.

She’s very kind, always wanting to assist others and apologizing for things she hasn’t done.

Her ignorance is on full show in her financial records since she runs her own business.

Half of the things she offers are certain to kill you, and the other half are so high-level that they have no place in a rookie settlement.

She has never been able to make a profit on the program. Her childish tenacity, on the other hand, will not enable her to collect her belongings and go.

Maria Takayama is 19 years old.

Maria Takayama from Haganai: I don't have many friends

Haganai (anime): I don’t have many pals.

Maria is a strange character since she is both innocent and naive, as well as fierce and competitive.

She’s also a ten-year-old nun who oversees a high school club.

Anime really understands how to test the boundaries of rationality.

Maria is very naive and easy to manipulate, even though she is quick to rage and call you a rotten mandarin (which sounds like the strangest insult).

Yozora essentially has her dancing like a puppet, and it’s Kodaka’s job to keep an eye on her and make sure she’s okay.

Hinata Hyuuga is 18 years old.

Hinata Hyuuga in Naruto anime

Naruto is a Japanese anime series.

Hinata is one of the most despicable villains in anime history.

It takes her hundreds of episodes just to approach Naruto and speak to him, then another few hundred to really get a W.

This is due to the fact that Hinata is the most innocent ninja the leaf village has ever seen.

Even though she comes from a strong clan, she refuses to fight. And a somewhat clever parrot may influence her confidence.

When the chips are down, she’ll put everything on the line to defend people she cares about. As a result, we can’t be angry with her.

Ayumi Otosaka (nineteen)

Ayumi Otosaka from Charlotte anime

Charlotte, the Anime

Ayumi is a sweet young angel who has no right to be a part of such a gruesome performance.

Just look at that expression! She’s simply a kind young girl who wants to look after her older brother and make some school friends.

She also has the cutest little troll face you’ve ever seen, which adds kawaii points to the table.

Here are some spoilers:

Even her power, I believe, says volumes about who she is. When she is in danger, she has no idea what to do or how to react, so she freezes and tries to scream the attacker away.

She is much too pristine.

16. Nia

Nia in Gurren Lagann anime

Gurren Lagann is a Japanese anime series.

Princesses are either conceited or wholesome as all get-out.

Nia is unmistakably the latter, since her backstory reveals her less-than-ideal childhood.

Her father abandoned her without ever teaching her any life lessons that would have prepared her for adulthood.

Fortunately, she had a golden heart, and everyone aboard instantly fell in love with her upon her arrival.

She was the cast’s morale booster, despite the fact that it took her a while to grasp the gravity of the situation.

Rundellhous Kode No. 15

Rundellhous Kode Log Horizon anime screenshot

Log Horizon is a Japanese anime series.

Whenever he’s on screen, he simply makes me happy.

Rundellhous is portrayed as a Golden Retriever by all of the characters in the episode.

And I believe that alone proves my point.

A puppy is the epitome of innocence, purity, kindness, and love.

And, in my view, he matches this description well, constantly brightening the atmosphere and calming difficult circumstances with his infectious charisma.

He is, nevertheless, extremely naive. Half of the time, I’m sure he has no concept of an insult, and the other half of the time, I’m simply thinking about how dumb his initial idea was.

Deus ex machina is a godsend.

Michiru Inukai (14), Michiru Inukai (14), Michiru

Michiru Inukai from Talentless Nana anime

Nana, the Talentless Anime

Michiru is so kind and warm that she even managed to make a mass killer like her.

Nana, the main character, spends the whole episode murdering her peers. But she couldn’t bring herself to murder Michiru, the most apparent target.

That’s because Michiru is a guardian angel.

An angel who is both innocent and hopeful.

She never suspected Nana of being the killer, no matter how much proof was shown to her; she was determined to believe in the power of friendship or whatever.

Nana Komatsu (age 13)

Nana Komatsu from Nana anime

Nana is a Japanese anime series.

We may as well speak about the original Nana because we’re already on the Nana train.

Nana Komatsu is a program that is extremely down to earth and realistic, so it really highlights some of the disadvantages of being so innocent and naive.

It’s all great and dandy at first, as even the most hardened people come to appreciate Nana and her simple, loving ways.

But, spoiler warning, this would soon come back to haunt her, as a particular long-haired demon began to play with her emotions. Nana simply takes it all in stride, leaving little space for doubt and, in the process, shattering all of our hearts.

She’s also characterized as a puppy, which further adds to the fact that she’s a puppy.

Kurumi Saiki is 12 years old.

Kurumi Saiki in The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

Anime: The Misadventures of Saiki K.

There was one incident in particular that particularly highlighted Kurumi’s naivety.

Salesmen begin to approach the Saiki family, hoping to take advantage of Kurumi’s vulnerable little heart.

They persuade her to purchase a variety of items, saying that it would benefit her family in the long term.

It was both endearing and heartbreaking to see this unfold, but thankfully she was alerted to the situation before the end, and she vented her rage on the sleazy salesperson attempting to take her for all she’s worth.

Emilia is number eleven.

Emilia from Re: Zero anime

Re: Zero is a Japanese anime series.

If Emilia’s innocence hadn’t saved the program, it would have terminated after the first episode.

Even when she is dealing with more serious problems, she feels compelled to assist others in need.

Five minutes after learning Subaru’s name, she gave him the lap pillow treatment. And, as we discovered from her history, this was always the case.

She can’t help but find the good in people and go out of her way to assist them.

She may not be the finest girl of the maid twins, but she is a lovely princess.

Sylphy is number ten.

Sylphy in Amagi Brilliant Park anime

Amagi Brilliant Park is an anime series created by Amagi.

I can’t begin to express how much I’d give to have Sylphy’s intellect for a week.

This character will never be grazed by mortal concerns. And I have no doubt that she has attained limitless Nirvana.

Her only desire is to spin her ponytails around and pretend to be a helicopter.

Sylphy might be on the sidelines re-enacting a pilot mission traveling abroad while the rest of the group is having crucial discussions.

Sylphy’s naive and ignorant mentality is impervious to everything. I admire her for it.

Her lack of screen time is the sole reason she isn’t number one.

Mikuru Asahina (nine)

Mikuru Asahina in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Haruhi Suzumiya’s Melancholy (Anime)

Given that Haruhi is the all-powerful creator, it’s only natural that the rest of the cast follows her lead.

The others, on the other hand, nevertheless have certain limitations.

Mikuru, on the other hand, is not one of them. She’s like a wandering kid who’s never been taught the significance of stranger danger.

She goes along with just about everything Haruhi wants, despite the fact that her body is on full show towards the end.

She’s a precious little cinnamon bun who must be guarded at all costs.

Tony Tony Chopper (#8)

Tony Tony Chopper from One Piece anime

One Piece is a popular anime series.

Tony is the newest member of the Straw-hats, and it shows.

He’s a sensitive little guy who prefers to remain on the sidelines and avoid direct confrontation.

He considers the whole crew to be both his family and idols, and he sobs at the prospect of having to pretend he isn’t a Straw-hat.

It’s honestly far too cute, even though thinking of everyone as your hero is, at the very least, a problematic mindset.

After the time jump, he matures and is finally ready to express himself freely and plainly.

Mako Mankanshoku is number seven in the Mako Mankanshoku series.

Mako Mankanshoku Kill la Kill anime screenshot

Kill la Kill is a Japanese anime series.

Mako will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever,

I swear she simply goes along with everything, never giving a second’s thought to the risks she’s placing herself in.

Even the fact that she felt “yes, she looks like a person I want to live with” when she saw a female with a big pair of scissors fighting the student body while half-naked demonstrates Mako’s innocence.

Even though she’s one of my all-time favorite characters, I say it as if it’s a negative thing.

Miria and Isaac are number six.

Miria and Isaac in Baccano! anime

Baccano! is an anime series.

This famous pair is completely unaware of what is going on, but they are making the most of it.

They simply go with the flow, putting their faith in one other above bothersome notions like “common sense” and “general opinion.”

They didn’t even know they were immortal for another 70 years.

Because Miria asks Isaac anytime she has a question, and Isaac asks Miria whenever he has a question.

It’s like an endless cycle of innocence, love, and goodness.

I honestly believe I could watch that for the rest of my life.

Yui Hirasawa, No. 5

Yui Hirasawa from K-ON! anime

K-ON! is a Japanese anime series.

Yui is the one who comes to mind when I think of youthful innocence.

She’s in this world to have a good time and is completely unconcerned about anything that may go in her way.

Fear, strong ambition, pride, sadness, and other such emotions come to mind. Yui dismisses all of this and instead jams out to her own beat.

You had to admire her naivete, since she really believed that “light music” meant music that was very simple to listen to.

In the actual world, you don’t see that sort of positive thinking very frequently.

She also has five times the amount of energy and hugs to put a stop to all global problems.

Mayuri Shiina is number four on the list.

Mayuri Shiina in Steins;Gate

Steins;Gate is a Japanese anime series.

Even if you’ve never seen Steins;Gate, you’re probably more familiar with its storyline than Mayuri, despite the fact that she’s a central character.

Mayuri is as aloof as a person can be physically, desiring nothing more than to hang out with her pals and watch their faces light up when she walks in with her trademark “tu turu.”

From her aesthetic design to her voice acting and character writing, everything about her screams “comfort.”

And I see why Okabe went to such great lengths to rescue her.

Sawako Kuronuma is number three.

Sawako Kuronuma in Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You

Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You (anime)

Sawako is nothing short of a saint, which is odd given that everyone believes she is the devil.

Many individuals would become gloomy and cynical as a result of being bullied for their appearance, striking back at the world that had unjustly bitten them. Sawako, on the other hand, travels in the exact opposite direction.

She is very generous and goes above and beyond to assist others around her.

Despite the fact that most people flee from her compassion.

She’s much too pure for this world, and we should be grateful for that.

2. Goku

Goku from Dragon Ball anime

Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese animated television series.

Sometimes I’m really concerned about Goku.

Despite the fact that he has two boys, I’m sure he has no idea where babies come from.

Aside from the battlefield, he seems to be completely ignorant.

You might persuade him that alarm clocks grow on trees, and he’d carry that belief with him to the cemetery. The guy is too preoccupied with hitting people to worry about anything else.

And as the series progressed, things just got worse!

By the time Dragon Ball Super came out, I was beginning to wonder whether he’d been duped into destroying Earth or something.

1. Kafuka Fuura is a fictional character created by Kafuka Fuura.

Kafuka Fuura in Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei

Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei is a Japanese anime series.

Kafuka has a few problems.

She’s so naive that she goes beyond the definition of the term.

She actually watches someone hang themself and assumes they’re simply trying to get taller.

And it’s not like she’s five or something; she’s just that naive!

She might definitely walk away from a World War II documentary believing that concentration camps assist with concentration. It’s crazy how free of pessimism this character is, and I believe there’s no debate that she deserves to be at the top of this list.

The wrongful execution statistics is a list of the 25 most innocent and naive anime characters. The list includes both male and female characters.

  • innocent victims of the death penalty
  • what percentage of death row inmates are innocent
  • death row inmates found innocent after execution
  • how many death row inmates are innocent
