CBS Local’s DJ Sixsmith recently chatted with Asia Kate Dillon about what fans can expect from the remainder of season five, Taylor Mason’s relationships with Wendy & Axe and how the non-binary actor feels the character of Mason has impacted the television landscape. Episode 508 of “Billions” airs Sunday, September 5 at 9pm EST/PST on Showtime and will be available to stream on the Showtime app.
“I believe I am right in saying that season five took a total of 504 days to shoot, and it is without a doubt the longest season I have ever been a part of,” Dillon remarked. “Returning to Season 5 was an amazing pleasure after a year of juggling extremely great appreciation and very intense sorrow at the same time. Coming back with the finest acting partners I could wish for was a dream come true. The eighth episode of Season 5 starts off exactly where we left off. It’s exhilarating from the start.”

It took time for them and the rest of the cast to re-acclimate to being back on set in the Axe Capital universe, according to Dillon. Mason has given the actor a lot of pleasure to portray since the character has so many levels, and those layers are on full show throughout the rest of season five.
“I’m not sure what other annoyances people associate with Taylor,” Dillon added. “I’m sure everyone is unique in some way. One of the things about Taylor that has always fascinated me is their degree of introspection, and how frequently, when, and why they delve inside themselves to find how they might develop, alter, or adapt in regard to how they have been in the past. One of the things I’m looking forward to seeing when season five returns and viewers check in with Taylor is that reflection. Some of it will affect what Taylor is aiming for and how they’ll act and function for the rest of the season in episode 508.”

“Working with Maggie Siff is extraordinary and always has been. I’m so grateful for the scenes and the writing we have is also extraordinary. I love this show if you can’t tell. Getting to learn more about who Taylor is every time I get to play a scene as Taylor is information I get to glean as an actor. What does that mean about Taylor and how they are feeling in this moment. When it comes to the relationship with Wendy, I think Taylor has to learn to trust someone and then have that trust broken and still need them. Taylor & Wendy have one of the most dynamic interpersonal relationships on the show. It doesn’t get any less dynamic when the season comes back.”
