‘Survivor’s’ Jeff Probst Remembers Sunday Burquest

Surviving presenter Jeff Probst

Season 41 of Survivor is currently filming in Fiji. When presenter Jeff Probst heard on Sunday that Burquest had lost her battle with cancer, he quickly responded on Instagram to pay tribute to the late contestant.

Here’s what he said about Burkest.

Probst praised his bright smile

Burquest was one of 33. One season Survivor, one season Millennium versus Genesis X. At 45 years old, she was even the oldest woman in the league. Now, five years later, she has lost her battle with cancer and passed away at the age of 50. Probst remembers her for her bright smile and exceptional kindness.

On Sunday, Burquest had one of the most radiant smiles of anyone who played Survivor. She exuded kindness and understanding for anyone lucky enough to be in her presence, Probst writes. She seemed to understand better than anyone that life is for living, so say yes to life if you can. My condolences go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.

Mrs. Burkest is survived by her husband, Jeff, and their four children, Brock, Carter, Kennedy and Tucker. Burquest’s daughter Kennedy broke the news of her mother’s death by writing on Instagram:

It breaks my heart to know that you will never see me on my wedding day, or that you won’t be there when I have my first child. But I know you’re watching me. As much as it pains me to see you go, I’m so glad you’re happy again. I am glad you are with Jesus and that you see your Father. I’m glad you’re not in pain anymore. I’m glad I got to spend the last few months with you. I enjoyed taking care of you. You’ll always be my favorite patient. I love you to heaven and a million times over. I know we’ll meet again someday. Until then, I will miss you every minute and try to make you proud. Relax, Mom, I’ll see you later.

Other Survivors also responded to Probst’s post. Elaine Stott wrote: Prayers for his family and friends, and Jessica Figgy Figueroa of Burquest Relay wrote: Jeff, thank you for bringing Sunday into my life.

Donathan Hurley posted broken heart emojis and wrote: We will miss you terribly on Sunday!

Ethan Sun, winner of Survivor, wrote: …and the sun rose in his eyes…… We send love and light to the Burquest tribe and the Survivor family at this sad time.

In a post by Kennedy’s daughter, several Burquest Millennials vs Gen X stars expressed their condolences and sadness.

Adam Klein wrote: When I look at you, Kennedy, I see her. I’ll see my friend on Sunday when I see you on your trip. Your special bond with your mother will always carry you through difficult decisions and important moments in your life.

Rachel Ako and Jessica Lewis have been writing since their season: The memory of Sunday is vivid and your mother impressed me from the moment I saw her. Her meeting confirmed everything I had imagined. She will always be my mommy Cookie, and I have been fortunate to have known her and lived with her my entire life.

Leslie Neese of the Mother Survival Team wrote: I am sending love and prayers to you and your family. Your mother is literally one of the best people I have ever met.

Burquest is the ninth member of the Survivor family to have died.
