Super Bowl 2021: Janet Jackson’s trends of the day on Twitter (Photo: Getty)
On Sunday night, as the Super Bowl was gearing up for its 2021 appearance, a “Janet Jackson Appreciation Day” was celebrated on Twitter.
Every year a great artist comes to the annual NFL championship and presents his epic show during halftime.
Over the years, Beyoncé, Prince, Lady Gaga and Bruce Springsteen have stormed stadiums across America, and Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will perform in Miami in 2020.
This year’s artist was confirmed as The Weeknd, but while he was getting ready to entertain the crowd, fans were busy reminiscing about the previous artist during Janet Jackson’s halftime show.
Janet, 54, starred in the Super Bowl 17 years ago in 2004, but her performance will be remembered as one of the most memorable due to an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction that Justin Timberlake accidentally exposed her breasts on stage.
By comparison, he would rip off the front of Janet’s top corset at the end of her performance of the song “Rock Your Body,” but he accidentally took part of her bra and, well, the nipple-gate was born.
Bitch is thinking about Sunday’s Super Bowl, but I know Janet Jackson’s Thanksgiving, and that’s today.

The wardrobe malfunction made Janet the center of controversy and she was forced to apologize before later being fined and blacklisted by MTV and the American Broadcasting Corporation.
Janet’s career took a hit, while Justin seemed to rebound and was asked back for a Super Bowl halftime show in 2018.
There have been rumors that Janet was banned from the Super Bowl, and the NFL has maintained for three years that this was not the case.
In anticipation of Justin’s return to the Super Bowl stage, director Matthew A. Cherry tweeted “We should do #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay this Sunday” to do justice to Janet, and the hashtag has returned every Super Bowl game day since.

Sunday was no different, Janet’s fans began tweeting in their cars to drown out the Super Bowl tweets with their own.
“Is there a soccer game today? Janet Jackson appreciation day,” one fan tweeted, while another wrote, “I had really forgotten about the Super Bowl until I saw the tweets about Janet Jackson appreciation day.
One fan laughed, “So, who’s playing in that Janet Jackson Appreciation Day soccer game today?
Another Janet fan responded, “That bitch doesn’t want to be in the Super Bowl on Sunday, but I know Janet Jackson’s recognition day and it’s today.

Others simply joined in, such as one fan who posted a tweet, “I saw the tweet calling for Janet Jackson Appreciation Day today and honestly, I’m all for it.”
Justin previously revealed that he and Janet had “absolutely reconciled” over this embarrassing incident, the singer revealed on the radio, “I don’t know if many people know about it.

He added, “I don’t think it’s for me to discuss this, because you value the relationships you have with people.”
