Stranger Things: 6 Details From Season 1 That You May Not Have Noticed!

Season 2 of Stranger Things is coming out tomorrow, it’s time to look back on the first season to look back at the events of the past!

In this season 1 precisely, some small details may have escaped you, here are 6 spotted by the Dorkly website !

#1 The location of Barb’s body had already been mentioned

barb

Despite the great danger threatening children in Stranger Things, Barb will be the only unfortunate victim of Upside Down. Her best friend Nancy spends most of the season looking for her, but her body will only be discovered in the last episode. Yet, a few episodes earlier, a clue could have led us to guess where she was.

When Nancy starts looking for her, she soon realizes that Barb’s mother has no idea where her daughter is, so she makes up a lie to keep her from worrying.

You know what? I just remembered she’s in the library.

When Hopper and Joyce go upside down, guess where they find poor Barb’s body? In the library of course!

#2 The reference to Jaws

We know that Stranger Things is inspired by many works from the 80’s and 90’s, some are more obvious than others, but you may not have seen the one about Jaws ! The reference concerns the vehicle and the police uniform as you can see in the pictures below :

A discreet reference, but one that makes you smile when you notice it!

#3 Eleven’s piece of cloth

Here is a detail that proves that it can be useful to watch the first season more than once. In the first episode, we are introduced to little Eleven wandering in the woods in a nightgown in poor condition.

st

This is what she wore when she escaped from the compound where she was being held captive. What is important to note here is that the bottom of his shirt has been ripped off :

st

In the next episode, when the police are looking for Will, they find a piece of fabric, and on closer inspection, this one matches exactly the torn part of Eleven’s shirt!

It’s with this kind of little things that we can see that the creators of the series really have an eye for detail.

#4 References to E.T. are more numerous than we think

If there is a film to which Stranger Things pays homage it is E.T., if only in its scenario which presents great similarities! We could also see him in the outfit Eleven wears to look like a normal little girl, about the same as the one E.T. wears to pretend to be a little girl:

st

But also in the famous bike hunting scene:

But not only that, you had also noticed this great moment when Eleven lives a very special moment with a television.

st

A moment that might make you think of the time E.T. is going through the same thing.

st
In addition, children in Stranger Things and E.T. seem to have the same taste in terms of pizza.

st

Pepperoni and sausages!

Also note that while eating these same pizzas, they are playing the same game: Dungeons and Dragons !

Last but not least, Mike’s little sister Holly is dressed in the same style as Drew Barrymore’s character in E.T.!

#5 Hopper’s blue scrunchy

st

Here is a detail that is both moving and very sad to notice : before the end of the season very little is known about Sheriff Hopper. In the end, we learn that he was married and had a daughter, but unfortunately she died of cancer. At that moment, the character takes on a whole new dimension. But had you noticed that all this time the Sheriff had a souvenir of his daughter on him?

Look, here we see that the little girl wears a little blue scrunchie in her hair:

st

When she loses her hair because of her treatment, her father wears this blue scrunchy around his wrist :

st

Hopper has this darling with him from the first episode of the series, while the viewer has no idea of the character’s past:

st

And if you don’t believe that sad detail, the actor who plays Hopper, David Harbor, confirmed it himself:

The blue bracelet around my wrist is actually a favorite of my daughter’s, in the flashback you can see it in her hair. And in the first scene, when he wakes up, he touches him. It’s the first thing he touches every day, just to make sure he’ll never forget it.

Probably the most moving detail on this list!

#6 The relationship with X-Men

st

In the series, there is at one point a question of X-Men #134

st

Marvel hardcore fans know that this number is a turning point in the story of Jean Grey, the telekinetic X-Men who has to fight a malevolent deity.

The parallel becomes even more obvious at the end of the series. In the comics, Jean Grey hits his enemy against a wall (which even looks like a painting!), exactly like Eleven does with the Demogorgon.
