Samsung would be working on a new S-Pen compatible Galaxy Tab. This would be a Galaxt Tab A mid-range model, information revealed by a leaked serial number. This identifier is reminiscent of the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with S-Pen which was officially released at the beginning of the year.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6
Samsung is one of the few brands to overshadow Apple in the consumer tablet market. The Korean firm has developed an offer that is based on the same strategy as for smartphones: high-end Galaxy Tab S and mid-range Galaxy Tab A. And long before Apple, compatibility with the most popular accessories also affects the cheapest models. The Galaxy Tab S-Pen, in particular, is compatible with a growing selection of models.
This year, certainly in reaction to the release of various Apple Pen compatible iPads, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 with S-Pen, a small digital slate with Samsung’s famous pen (the tablet version), which can be stored in a dedicated slot. Unheard of in France, it is sold for $280 in WiFi and $310 in LTE.
Let’s recall the outlines of its data sheet. This tablet is equipped with an 8-inch WUXGA screen, a 4200 mAh battery, an Exynos 7904 Octa, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, an 8-megapixel main photo sensor and a 5-megapixel webcam. We are therefore far from the Galaxy Tab S6 which we found very convincing during our test.
The experiment seems to have had good results since a new indiscretion, relayed by SamMobile, reveals that the Samsung would be working on a new S-Pen compatible mid-range tablet. To support this claim, the Indian site reveals the two tablet serial numbers : SM-P610 for WiFi version, SM-P615 for LTE version.
These are very special serial numbers. Indeed, Samsung tablets carry identifiers of this type: SM-TXXX (where X’s are replaced by numbers). Rare, very rare even, are the tablets with an identifier beginning with “SM-P”. One of them is the Galaxy Tab 8.0 with S-Pen (SM-P200 in WiFi version). Another is Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (SM-P580). It remains to be seen whether it is a replacement for one of the two, or a complementary model with a different screen size. We’re betting on the first assumption.

In addition to the WiFI and LTE versions, the newcomer would also be available in two storage tiers : 64 GB and 128 GB (it is not specified whether one of these will be exclusive to any of the connectivity). Finally, Samsung should offer a smart cover with this tablet, but certainly not a model with an integrated keyboard.
