Rsolupc All in One Are They Upgradeable?

Hi

Can we upgrade all-in-one PCs?
Is it as complicated to dismantle as a cell phone or as simple as a tower?
I’m considering replacing my old satellite (if no repairs are possible) and I’m hesitating between a laptop and an all-in-one.
Thank you in advance ;)

Good morning, sir,

it’s a portable pc, with the same constraints = irreparable noise heating, not evolutionary.

Hello,
Thank you for answering so quickly :)
I was kind of hoping that an all-in-one would be less constraining since there is more space than in a laptop.
Too bad :( But as the screens are clearly bigger, I would still take an all-in-one: question of space.
Thanks for your help :)

In order
1° Evolution
It’s like the job says mostly laptop motherboards, therefore not very scalable or even totally non-scalable (depending on brands and models)
2° Repair
When it’s all integrated…
3° Performance
Mostly low performance for the same price of a machine in pieces … but this consideration is not valid at Apple for example, since the range is segmented (excluding servers)
4° Embedded technologies
Always beware of attractive prices on all-in-one! Often there are sacrifices on the graphics card but also a lot on the quality of the screen. That’s where Apple machines get their kicks by showing off their gorgeous screens… But for a price. It is important to understand that a PC at an equivalent price would be more than limited, because it would not offer a screen of equivalent quality.
Also counts on the fact that an all-in-one is really suitable for multimedia uses, but not much more.
5° the off-category
There is the pro surface which is a very specialized machine, an all in one but at a golden price made for the pros and only them.

Hi @magellan,

Thanks for your help.
I’ve seen used cell phones and all-in-ones that I think are okay and guaranteed for 12 months. What do you think (I never play):

ALL-IN-ONE HP

PORTABLE Toshiba

the HP will be less prone to failure due to its lack of a dedicated GPU but the Toshi is more powerful

The Toshi has a processor with 2 cores running at 2.80 and is more powerful than the HP which has 2 cores running at 3.4 ?? I don’t get it!

When you write Gpu dedicated you mean Cpu dedicated ??

And why is less prone to failure due to its lack of a dedicated GPU?

Thanks for your help!

Technically a dedicated graphics card implies a specialized chip and a specific circuit to manage the graphics… it’s more efficient for games and applications that take advantage of it, but it’s more prone to failure, as this component has the unfortunate tendency to heat up and cause some problems in the long run, especially when it’s heavily used.

Then looking at the frequency, the number of cores is NOT a convincing indicator in terms of power, especially since it can be totally different from one generation to another. For example, an old high-frequency dual-core processor will score poorly against the latest generation of two lower-frequency cores.

especially since we have an I7 (even if it’s m) versus an I3 …

At the time for me, I hadn’t seen that i3s were equipped with yperthreading, very rare in the Ivy days.
So here a all in one is more powerful.

And as Magellan explained, I was talking about the GPU.

Can you explain to me what Gpu is? Would that be G for gaming?
If I’m not mistaken, 4 threads allow hyperthreading to play (very) demanding applications and I never play thesegames. On the other hand as I do/use this, I prefer the most powerful?
– Windows 7 or 8 or 10
– Office 2003
– Chrome +/- 10 Tabs Open at the same time
– Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram at the same time
– Mahjong 3D games (nerd I know)
photo editing with PhotoFiltre
– small 3D modeling with SweetHome3D
– replay tv

Graphique, I was not far LOL!

I didn’t think that even for Photofilter you need 4 cores!

So I prefer the Toshiba, too bad I wanted a big screen :p t1cable:

Pfff I feel like there’s a little binz !

information copied/pasted to the Intel site :

The HP ALL in ONE:
processor i3-3240 / No. of cores 2 / No. of threads 4 / Base frequency 3.40 GHz
no turbo frequency mentioned

The Toshiba Laptop:
processor i7-2640M / No. of cores 2 / No. of threads 4 / Base Freq. 2.80 GHz
Freq. Turbo max 3.50 GHz

So ???????????

Once again there is no binz, there is only an enormous complexity in explaining the why of the how…

So, basically:
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-2640M-vs-Intel-Core-i3-3240

(and apparently, as I suspected, the I7 is a little more efficient at lower frequencies).

That said, it’s a hair’s breadth when you look at the detail that the I7 is in front.
Note: the I3 has its graphics integrated, which in itself is a guarantee of long-term reliability.

Ah, this time it’s clear. I was confused because two-thirds posts up you said

The HP is more powerful!

when Toshiba’s the one with the i7!

Since they’re both worth a hair, I’m gonna take

the i3 has its graphics integrated, which in itself is a guarantee of long-term reliability.

so I can get a bigger screen. I’ve just seen that I can adjust in several times, that’s great!

Thank you very much :ouimetre: for your explanations and for persevering :) :) :)
