Sony has announced the PS4 firmware 7.0. The update will be available to everyone on Tuesday, October 8. A number of enhancements are planned, mainly in the Party and Remote Play functionality. An update on new developments.
Beta-tested since the summer, the PS4 ‘s firmware 7.0 is finally ready for general deployment. In a note published on its official blog, Sony announces the availability of the updated on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. For those who like to play with family, friends or other community members, the Party feature has been enhanced for added convenience.
PS4: What’s new in firmware 7.0
The maximum number of users in Party mode has been doubled. The number of channels has been increased from 8 to 16 and Sony is also announcing improvements in network connectivity and audio quality. A new feature also allows live transcription of voice chat to text via the PS4 “second screen” application on your smartphone and other mobile devices. The feature is currently only available in English and for US users. It also allows players to enter text that will be read aloud by voice synthesis to other party members.
Sony also announced the availability of the PS4’s Remote Play feature for all Android users, starting with OS version 5.0. Remote Play allows you to play your favorite PS4 games on your smartphone while connected to the same network as the console. Until now, it was only available on Sony Xperia smartphones and on the iPhone and iPad. Finally, it is now possible to connect the Dualshock 4 way in Bluetooth. This option is only compatible with Android 10, iOS 13, iPadOS 13 and MacOS Catalina to stream games on Mac.
