Oneplus 7t, 7t Pro, 7 or 7 Pro: Which One to Buy?

Two smartphones at the beginning of the year, two at the end of the year, 2019 has been rather rich on the side of OnePlus which has made the bet to offer twice as many phones. A rather risky gamble since the brand has also launched for the first time resolutely high-end smartphones with a Pro in their name to differentiate them from standard versions.

OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T or OnePlus 7T Pro, each model has been tested by us. We are therefore able to advise you and tell you which one to buy.

Two flat screens, two curved, all OLED

Some will be delighted with the return of the curved screen on the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro which was the charm of the OnePlus 7 Pro. Others will prefer the flat screen display of OnePlus 7. Everyone has their own tastes, but in all cases, the screens are correctly calibrated and offer Excellent image quality In addition, the panel of these four smartphones is based on OLED technology and thus allows to benefit from a so-called infinite contrast.

The FHD+ on the OnePlus 7 and 7T with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels for one and 1080 x 2400 pixels for the other. Note that the OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro displays have a refresh rate of 90Hz, which allows for smoother and more enjoyable reading. In addition, all three are HDR10+compatible. OnePlus 7 requires a screen refresh rate of only 60 Hz and HDR10technology.

The OnePlus 7 Pro, 7T and 7T Pro offer a more immersive experience than the OnePlus 7. Your choice will then depend on your tastes. Notch or no notch? curved edges or flat screen?

Top-of-the-range performance

With a Snapdragon 855 processor and 8 or 12GBRAM, OnePlus 7/7 Pro delivers excellent performance. In September, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 855+. On the menu, graphic performances up 15%. This chip is used in the OnePlus 7T/7T Pro and is also associated with 8 or 12GB ofRAM.

The photographic performance of OnePlus smartphones has always lagged behind the competition, but the Chinese firm is making progress. The OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T and 7T Pro are all based on the Sony IMX586 48 megapixelsensor. The OnePlus 7 couples it to a 5 Megapixel sensor This is the least complete of the foursome, as the other three carry a triple back sensor complemented by an 8 megapixel (7 Pro/7T Pro) or 12 megapixel (7T) telephoto lens and a 16 megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens.

All these smartphones house a 16 megapixel camera in a slot (7/7T) or slider (7 Pro/7T Pro).

In all cases, the shots are excellent during the day, but lack detail at night. Portrait mode is well handled by the smartphone’s internal software and cuts the subject correctly. The OnePlus 7 offers a more limited variety of images due to the lack of ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses.

Autonomy: OnePlus 7T, the good surprise

On paper, OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T appear to be the most damaged with a 3700 and 3800 mAh battery versus 4000 mAh for OnePlus 7 Pro and 4085 mAh for OnePlus 7T Pro. If the OnePlus 7 is the most enduring of the fours, the 7T is doing rather well considering its equipment with an autonomy that is close to two days of versatile use (gaming, streaming, social networks…).

On the fast charge side, there is Warp Charge 20 on OnePlus 7, Warp Charge 30 on OnePlus 7 Pro and Warp Charge 30T on OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro. Of course, the latter is the most interesting as we only need of an hour to fill up.

OnePlus 7T: the best of OnePlus at the best price

With top-of-the-range performance, a more complete photo section, an excellent 90 Hz OLED display and a comfortable Battery Life the OnePlus 7T is the bestoption. If you don’t want a curved screen at all costs, there’s no reason not to choose this smartphone, especially since it’s cheaper than the two Pro versions.

The OnePlus 7T has everything to please, or almost. With its sleek design, excellent screen and top-of-the-line performance, it has little to envy the best on the market. Except perhaps its photo part, improved, but still below that of its main rivals. Nevertheless, there is no lack of arguments to make in a highly competitive market.

Bonus: OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition

As with the 6T version, OnePlus is repeating the release of a McLaren special edition for the OnePlus 7T Pro. The OnePlus 7T Pro has exactly the same data sheet as the classic OnePlus 7T Pro with two differences: a new design for its chassis and overlay and 12GB of RAM instead of 8. An edition at 859 euros that will undoubtedly please fans of the stable and the colour orange papaya.
