Oneplus 7 and Oneplus 7 Pro: All You Need to Know

The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro are the successors to the already successful OnePlus 6T. This time, the Chinese brand has decided to divide its new flagship killer range into two variants: a top-of-the-range model, very different from the brand’s previous productions, and a standard variant, a timid improvement on the OnePlus 6T. We’re taking stock of these 2 smartphones.

OnePlus used a press conference in London to unveil the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro on Tuesday 14 May 2019. In the wake, the Chinese brand also introduced the Bullets Wireless 2 earphones, rivals to Apple’s AirPods.

OnePlus 7 Pro

A true outsider to the Galaxy S10, Huawei P30 and iPhone XS, the OnePlus 7 Pro promises top-flight performance, thanks in particular to the integration ofa Snapdragon 855 SoC and up to 12GB ofRAM. Thanks to a new version of the Oxygen OS overlay, the smartphone is a Real Racing beast.

Inside the beast, there is also , a large 4000 mAh battery compatible with Warp Charge 30, the technology that recharges 38% faster than Fast Charge. This quick recharge system allows you to gain 49% autonomy in 20 minutes. The terminal also benefits from a new haptic vibration system, stereo speakers and ultra-fast UFS 3.0 internal storage, like the Galaxy S10.

On the photo side, the OnePlus 7 Pro features a triple rear photo sensor with a 48 megapixelmain lens, the Sony IMX 586 (26mm). It comes with an 8 MP (78mm) telephoto sensor and a 16 MP (17mm) ultra-wide angle sensor. Unsurprisingly, it’s all sprinkled with artificial intelligence. With this device, OnePlus 7 Pro outperforms the Galaxy S10+ and iPhone XS Max on DxoMark. Underneath the front panel is a 16 megapixel retractable photo sensor. We will discuss the issue of design in more detail in the dedicated section.

Finally, the smartphone is also a great performer thanks to its curved QHD+ borderless and HDR10+ compatible display. This very bright AMOLED panel has a refresh rate of 90 Hz, like the best gaming smartphones on the market. By way of comparison, most devices on the market have to cope with a refresh rate of 60 hz.

OnePlus 7

A timid enhancement to the OnePlus 6T, the standard OnePlus 7 is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855, coupled with 6 or 8GB of RAM, 128 or 256GB of ultra-fast UFS 3.0 storage. There is also a dual photo sensor, which is nevertheless distinguished by a 48 MP main module, like the 7 Pro. Like the 6T, it is powered by a 3700 mAh battery compatible with the Warp Charge and is enhanced by a huge AMOLED screen topped with a notch.

Design

OnePlus 7 Pro

Unlike OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 7 Pro bypasses the famousnotch, which still dominates the smartphone market, to offer a truly borderless display. Like Vivo in 2018, the Chinese manufacturer decided to hide Front photo sensor designed for selfies and Face Unlock facial recognition in a sliding drawer.

When you need it, this retractable photo sensor will pop out of its hiding place in just 0.65 seconds. According to OnePlus, this mechanism can be opened 300,000 times (150 times a day for five years) and is resistant to water and dust. The mark also ensures that the terminal is waterproof despite the absence of IP 67 or IP 68certification. In the event of a fall, the sensor will automatically retract into the structure to avoid damage as much as possible. The fingerprint sensor of the 6T is recessed under the display.

OnePlus 7

If the Pro model marks a real visual break with the previous productions of the young Chinese brand, the standard OnePlus 7 takes the look of the OnePlus 6Tto the letter. The terminal is thus equipped with a screen without borders but with a fine notch in the shape of a drop of water. At the back, the double vertical photo sensor and the all-glass surface is making a big comeback It is obviously equipped with the same under-screen reader as the 6T.

Both smartphones, originally sold with an Android Pie overlay, are among the first to benefit from OxygenOS 10.0.3 with Android 10.
