One Piece will get its own live action series on Netflix. The streaming service is indeed working on a 10 episode adaptation of the famous manga since 2017. Find out the first available information about the project.
On 29 January 2020, Netflix announced the production of a live action series adapted from One Piece on its Twitter account. As a reminder, the project was first mentioned on the web in 2017. At the time, the name Netflix was not mentioned. Nevertheless, a few months later, an insert dedicated to the One Piece series appeared, obviously by mistake, in the Netflix catalogue. So today’s announcement comes as no surprise.
In a tweet, Netflix confirms the involvement of Eiichiro Oda, creator of the manga, in the project. “I know I announced that this film would be produced in 2017, but these things take time! Preparations are progressing slowly behind the scenes, and it seems that I can finally make the big announcement” explains Eiichiro Oda in a press release relayed by Netflix.
” Netflix, the world’s leading streaming entertainment service, will be supporting us! It’s so encouraging ! How far will the story progress through the 10 episodes of season 1? Who will be in the casting!? Please wait a little longer and stay tuned ! “promises the famous mangaka.
