Xiaomi launched its Mi 9 SE in France on 17 April 2019. The smartphone is positioned in the high-end mid-range segment with some features taken from the excellent Mi 9. These include a 5.97-inch OLED screen and an under-slab fingerprint reader The SoC Snapdragon 712 does not offer the same performance as the Snapdragon 855 but is more energy efficient, which should delight the device’s 3070 mAh battery.
The mobile embeds 6 GB of RAM for 64 GB of storage space (a 128 GB version is available but only on the official Xiaomi website) and runs under MIUI 10 (Android 9 Pie). There is a triple photo sensor 48 MP + 8 MP + 13 MP at the rear and a 20 MP module for the selfies.

In this lighter version of the Mi 9, Xiaomi swaps the Snapdragon 855 (premium) chip for the Snapdragon 712 (high-end). In addition, the Mi 9 SE does not support Wireless Qi Charging like its Big Brother but still makes do with fast charging. In terms of dimensions, the Mi 9 SE is more compact and lighter than the Mi 9 with dimensions of 147.5 x 70.5 x 7.5 mm for 155 grams versus 155 × 75 × 7.6 mm for 173 grams.
Logically, the Mi 9 SE has a 5.97-inch OLED display compared to 6.39-inch on the Mi 9. The Xiaomi Mi 9 is undoubtedly the more powerful of the two smartphones. If you’re looking for something cheaper, more compact, then the Mi 9 SE is a great alternative.
