Netflix announced the release of season 5 of Orange is The New Black from June 9, 2017. But hackers have managed to hack into the service and have already spread the first ten episodes on the web. They are available on The Pirate Bay
Orange is The New Black is one of the hit series on Netflix. Since its launch in France, it has been a phenomenal success and brings together many of the 100 million Netflix users around the world. Every season is therefore eagerly awaited by the fans. Normally, Netflix was scheduled to launch season 5 on June 9, 2017 but its plans were disrupted this weekend.
Orange is The New Black: Season 5 already available on The Pirate Bay
On Saturday, April 29, 2017, season 5 of Orange is The New Black was available on the illegal Download site The Pirate Bay. How did she end up here? A group of hackers called The Dark Overlord had previously hacked into the servers of one of the Netflix providers.
After getting their hands on the contents, the hackers contacted Netflix and demanded ransom from the company. If she refused to pay, the episodes would be broadcast on the web. Netflix didn’t give in to blackmail and refused to pay the ransom. Certainly not for the money, as Netflix posting does not hesitate to invest in new features or exclusive content.
It’s all about principles. The hackers then posted a link on Twitter to The Pirate Bay site a link allowing to download the first ten episodes of season 5 of Orange is The New Black.
Not content with this feat, the group of hackers then threatened to replicate this performance with other services of the same kind. In a tweet, The Dark Overlord wrote:
Who’s next on the list? FOX, IFC, NAT GEO and ABC. Oh, what fun we’re going to have. We don’t play any games anymore.
It’s not clear what the hacker group is up to. It seems to be a group of thugs trying to make a small fortune in the name of internet freedom. Except that their action is far from noble.
If they really wanted to be a kind of vigilante who wanted to give access to culture to as many people as possible, free of charge, they would not have asked for any ransom. Result for Netflix: season 5 of Orange is The New Black is expected to air earlier than planned. The fans will be thrilled.
