Microsoft Flight Simulator Is Getting NVIDIA DLSS

NVIDIA has announced that Microsoft’s forthcoming Flight Simulator will support the company’s new GeForce RTX 2080 and 2070 graphics cards, enabling Ray Tracing on existing PCs. The game will also support DXR, a library of techniques for accelerating rendering in games using NVIDIA’s deep learning technology.

The “dlss flight simulator 2020” is a new feature that Microsoft has added to their Flight Simulator. NVIDIA DLSS is short for Deep Learning Super Sampling. It’s a graphics rendering technique that uses deep learning algorithms to improve the quality of rendered images by reducing artifacts and noise.

The performance of Microsoft Flight Simulator will be improved thanks to NVIDIA’s DLSS (deep learning super sampling) technology.

News of the upcoming feature stems from a Q&A session held this week with members of the development team, who confirmed that DLSS support will be available later this year for the critically acclaimed flight game’s DirectX 12 mode. The Q&A also included a handful of other announcements that include the release of a Top Gun: Maverick expansion pack in May, as well as fixes for performance drop issues during long-haul flights.

The following are some key takeaways from the interview, as reported by Flight Simulator Blog:

  • On January 31, World Update 7 will include updated satellite imagery, a new digital elevation model, and a slew of point-of-interest for Australia.
  • Sim Update 8 will concentrate only on bug fixes and will be released on March 1st. The beta option will be available soon following World Update 7.
  • Iberia, which includes both Portugal and Spain, will arrive in late March.
  • In May, a free Top Gun: Maverick expansion pack will be published.
  • In the fall, both gliders and helicopters will arrive.
  • Several unexpected addons are scheduled to be released in 2022.
  • Sim Update 8 will provide new propeller simulation, including prop wash, to Cessna and King Air aircraft.
  • Several complicated third-party aircraft will be arriving in the next months.
  • PMDG DC-6 is not accessible for console until a third-party aircraft platform for Xbox Series X|S is released in six months.
  • For DirectX 12 mode, DLSS support will be available later this year.
  • Sim Update 9, which will be released in April, will solely address stability concerns. Always report performance concerns in the official Forums to assist the team with their investigation.
  • Sim Update 9 will be on the lookout for performance decrease concerns on long-haul flights.
  • The next Developer Q&A will be at the end of February, just before Sim Update 8.
