League of Legends MMO discussion

League of Legends, the world’s most popular MOBA game when it comes to competitive eSports. The MMO has been in development for years and is finally reaching its full potential with a new update announced today; what does this mean for the future of League?

The “league of legends mmo release date” is a discussion on when the game will be released. The game has been in development for over 5 years, so it is expected to be released soon.

So, what can we extrapolate from what we now know about LoL and how it may be used to an MMO?

Lessgo ;D This forum is intended for debate. Do you agree or disagree? do you have anything to add? Is it possible to take anything away? Don’t think of this as a clone of World of Warcraft, but rather as a game in its own right.

Features:

Because ghostcrawler said it, we already know there will be endgame raids. Which implies there will very certainly be dungeons.

Given the nature of LoL, it’s also fair to presume there will be PvP. There’s debatable whether or not there will be World PvP, but I feel it should be, with server kinds to accommodate to people who don’t enjoy it.

I suppose we may anticipate the usual. It will be crucial, though, how they apply it.

What would you want to see as a maximum level or a grading system in general? The maximum level in the league is 18 haha, or 30 in URF, but those are champion levels; if we’re talking about summoner levels, it used to be 30 as well, but now there is no cap; however, if they choose to go this route, there must be a hard or soft cap somewhere along the lines, or else problems will arise.

  • Number of abilities, actions, and hotbars

20 is, in my view, the sweet spot, and not all abilities must be combat-related, such as 4 or 8. Leagues 4 is a little tiny for a mmo in my opinion (there’s no law that says it needs to be higher, but yep), and others have as much as 8 with stances and forms, but anyway.

Personally, I like a mix of tab target and action fighting, with a heavier emphasis on the former. Now, I get that in LoL, since it is a moba, skillshots are really crucial for skill, but in a mmo, it is a bit different. Have skill shots, but ALSO tab target, in my opinion.

So there are item rarities in LoL already.

  1. Starter
  2. Basic
  3. Epic
  4. Exceptional (purple ingame)
  5. Legendary (orange ingame)

And if we include in things like skin rarities, the answer is;

(The hues aren’t what we’re accustomed to, but it’s what it is)

  1. (Classic) Timeworn (grey in color)
  2. (Deluxe) Budget (white in color)
  3. Standard (Excellent) (green in color)
  4. Epic (color: blue (light blue))
  5. Exceptional (red in color)
  6. Legendary (purple in color)
  7. The most effective (orange in color)

—-

  1. Chroma?

These hues are also used in China for skins.

They would be the following in terms of stats accessible on gear:

You may use your creativity when it comes to item slots. Though, based on what we have in the store for now:p it seems to be;

  • Boots
  • Trinkets
  • Off-hands and Weapons
  • Cloaks
  • Shoulders
  • Necks
  • Consumables
  • Head
  • Rings
  • Chest
  • Belts
  • Hands
  • Legs
  • It’s also unlikely to matter since it doesn’t have to be based on existing store products.

I’m guessing there will be mounts, as well as teleports and rapid travel places, and maybe flying mounts (oo spicy I know). However, I’d want to be able to sail ships, which would be ideal for Bilgewater.

It’s possible that the climbing mount of targon will be used for gaming, exploration, or both.

In some manner, any of these systems, or all of them, might be involved. Glyphs and regular spces from ancient World of Warcraft, or something completely different.

MODEL OF MONETIZATION

Now for the juicy part: as we all know, League of Legends is all about selling skins, cosmetics, and other such items.

And I’m well aware that a subscription MMORPG deters many people from ever considering the game in the first place.

My preferred approach would be more comparable to Runescape or Club Penguin from back in the day.

The game is free to play, but membership is required. So, for example, 60% of the game is free to play, while the remaining 40% requires membership, and so on… and all of this with NO SHOP. This enables accessibility and a consistent revenue without interfering with the game. But, of course, this is debatable.

That’s it for now; there’s still a lot to argue about with mmos, but for the time being, I simply wanted to spark some debate.
