Larry Elder Campaigning for Governor of California •

When he announced his candidacy for California governor, I had great expectations for Larry Elder’s campaign. After all, the “Concerned Black Man” has done everything the Democrats have asked him to do. He’s been a civil rights activist, he’s been a “community organizer,” and now he wants to be the Democrat’s next governor. He even says the Democratic Party is his “home.”

California’s Republican voters are frustrated. They got a Republican candidate for governor, but the Democratic voters are still throwing their ballot away.

After the GOP passed their devastating healthcare bill, many conservatives and libertarians wondered if there was any hope for electoral victory in 2018. One pundit was considering a run for Governor of California against incumbent Democrat Jerry Brown, and he just announced his candidacy. Larry Elder is a syndicated columnist and radio talk show host who has been described as “America’s Most Dangerous Black Conservative,” and “The Dean of Conservative Pundits.” His column is published in hundreds of newspapers across America, and reaches millions of people each week.. Among the recall contenders, Elder has a 74.8 percent advantage.

CALIFORNIA — In mid-July, Larry Elder, a nationally syndicated radio presenter and newspaper columnist, bestselling book, award-winning documentary filmmaker, and one of America’s most well-known media personalities, officially began his campaign for governor of California.

Elder, dubbed “The Sage from South Central,” stated on his daily radio show, “The Larry Elder Show,” that he would run in the special recall election planned for Sept. 14 to remove Governor Gavin Newsom’s catastrophic policies.

“I adore this state,” Elder stated in his campaign kickoff video. You do as well. That is why we have remained. That is why I want you to remain and have a family here. To do so, we must reclaim this state.”

Atascadero, we’re going to get through this together.

“Californians can draw the connections between [Newsom’s] extreme policies and failing schools, brownouts, violent crime, deadlier ‘fire seasons,’ homelessness, companies fleeing the state and taking jobs with them, and the increasing cost of living,” Elder said.

Elder became an official candidate after filing paperwork at the Los Angeles County Registrar’s office this morning. Elder promised to recall Governor Newsom and bring a better future to California in front of a boisterous throng of supporters. He said, “We have a state to rescue.”

Elder stated on July 21 that his case against California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber had been successful. The California Superior Court decided that Secretary Weber would name Elder as a candidate for governor in the extraordinary recall election planned on September 14.

The secretary’s decision to exclude Elder as a candidate for claimed redaction problems with the income tax records submitted with his candidacy application was overturned by the court. The court determined that the statute requiring candidates to file tax returns for the forthcoming election only applies to direct primary elections, not recall elections. As a result, Elder was not required to submit any tax returns in order to be considered for the position.

In a statement, Elder stated, “I want to express my greatest thanks to the Superior Court of California, our friends, volunteers, supporters, and the people of California.” “We battled Sacramento politicians’ antics and prevailed. If elected governor, I would battle for our state every day. This is just the start.”

Then, on Aug. 3, Emerson College published a survey showing Elder with a 23 percent lead among recall candidates, up seven points from the last Emerson poll two weeks before.

Recalling Governor Gavin Newsom is a close call, with 46 percent in favor and 48 percent against. Top worries include homelessness and violence.

A grassroots group supporting the recall, the Political Action Committee Reform California, also published the results of a statewide survey of activists. Elder has a 74.8 percent advantage over the other recall candidates, making him the obvious favorite.

“I’m revved up and eager to reach out to even more Californians with my message. The polls are overwhelmingly in our favor. Let’s make this happen by recalling Gavin Newsom, because we have a state to save,” Elder added.

This remark was made shortly before the Orange County Board of Education announced its intention to challenge Governor Newsom over the state’s requirement that K-12 students wear masks inside for the next school year on August 4.

“Newsom’s mask requirements and dictatorial “emergency powers” will go away—whether by court or by soon-to-be Governor Elder,” Elder said in response to the news.
