But, he has not had much playing time so far this season, prompting some to give him a nickname they don’t exactly love…

Rich Cimini’s Sunday morning piece relayed some of the chatter he heard from the corridors and bleachers during the Senior Bowl:
“Word on the street is that [the Jets] are interested in Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton, who is predicted to be a top-10 choice. Given that it’s a non-premium position, it may seem excessive for a safety, but Hamilton is regarded as a unicorn by some assessors.”
This spring, both of the Jets’ starting safeties from last season (Marcus Maye and Lamarcus Joyner) will be unrestricted free agents Maye ruptured his Achilles and Joyner tore his triceps, and both players are coming off significant injuries that ruined their seasons.
It’s uncertain if the green and white will bring back either player, leaving two huge voids in their defense.
On ESPN NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper’s new big board, Hamilton is ranked fourth overall.
Coming out of college, Kiper called him “one of the most versatile defenders in the nation” and stated “he is precisely” what NFL clubs want in their “first-round safety.”
Fans are grabbing pitch forks and torches.

It didn’t take long for Jets supporters to reveal which prospects they don’t want to see wind up in green and white as the offseason progressed. The vast majority of people have voiced their disinterest in the excellent Notre Dame safety.

Storming the stage in response to a draft choice is never a good idea.

The majority of Jets fans’ dissatisfaction with the Jets-Hamilton partnership stems from their prior wounds.
The last time the Jets drafted a safety in the first round was with the No. 6 overall choice in 2017, when they selected Jamal Adams out of LSU.
He was meant to be a game-changer, a culture builder, and a guy you could build a team around. While he had a lot of success in the NFL, many people questioned his influence on the game, particularly when it came to winning football games
When it came time to pay the piper, general manager Joe Douglas opted out and instead dealt him to the Seattle Seahawks for a huge windfall.
Because of such glimpses from the past, most Jets supporters are adamant about never drafting a safety in the first round again.
However, I’ll throw in a nugget from my YouTube channel’s Mock Draft Monday series, in which we chat to various experts every week about the Jets and the newest draft nuggets.
Ryan Roberts, an NFL draft expert, recently detailed why Hamilton is considerably better over Adams and persuaded Jets supporters that it makes sense:
“We’re not simply talking about a great football player like Adams, who is at the top of his game.” In a few years, we may be talking about the best safety in the NFL. In my perspective, this kid [Hamilton] is the lone blue-chip prospect in this class. I believe the term “generational” is overused, but this child is generational. “By far the finest safety I’ve ever tested.”
