Intel Details New Blockscale ASIC for Energy-Efficient Blockchain Hashing

Intel, one of the biggest technology providers in the world, has released new details on its upcoming ASIC chips which will be used to mine cryptocurrencies. The processor chip is claimed to be more energy-efficient than current models and increase transaction speeds by 100x while reducing power consumption by 25%.

The “argo blockchain” is a new ASIC developed by Intel that will be able to process transactions on the Ethereum and Bitcoin blockchains.

Intel has officially announced its new Blockscale ASIC, which is the first step in the company’s commitment to building new energy-efficient accelerators. According to an early list of specs released by Intel, the Blockscale ASIC boasts a power efficiency of 26 J/TH, as well as a hash rate of up to 580 GH/s and a dedicated SHA-256 processor. Temperature and voltage sensing capabilities are also included, as well as support for up to 256 integrated circuits per chain.
