Income Tax: Online Tax Return is Now Open


This Wednesday, April 10 is the opening day of the online INCOME TAX return service on impots.gouv.fr. A declaration for more than 38 million tax households that remains mandatory despite the introduction of the withholding tax since January.

This year all households must declare their income , insisted Gérald Darmanin. The Minister of Action and Public Accounts added that in 2020, the tax return will be eliminated for those whose tax lives do not change.

Regardless of the amount of income, taxpayers whose principal residence has internet access must file their taxes online. This is the first time that electronic filing has been made mandatory regardless of income.

However, this is theoretical as the paper declaration does not disappear. Persons who are not able to complete this declaration via the Internet may file a paper declaration.

Gérald Darmanin also recalled that thanks to the so-called white year (in connection with the introduction of the withholding tax), there will be no double taxation on income. In 2019, you pay INCOME TAX for 2019. The tax on non-exceptional income for 2018 is cancelled.
