Image Sizes For Social Networks

Whether it’s the profile picture, the cover image or any other images, you need to constantly update your accounts on social networks when the settings change. Here’s the complete updated list of image dimensions (in pixels) for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Tumblr and Pinterest

Last update: November 27, 2019 (logos and sizes verified). All dimensions are in pixels.

Facebook

Image size for Facebook (profile, cover, posts…)

In summary:

Cover photo: 851 x 315
FILE PHOTO 180 x 180 (but it is displayed as 170 x 170)
Image for one post: 1200 x 628 (ratio 1.91:1)
Image for a featured post (front page): 1200 x 717
Image for event coverage: 1920 x 1080

Here are the details for the Facebook banner (page) size:

desktop: 851 x 315 (2.7:1 ratio)
on mobile (smartphone): 640 x 360
minimum size of cover image or group: at least 400 pixels wide and 150 pixels high

And for the Facebook profile picture size:

minimum size of your profile picture: 180 x 180
if it is rectangular, it will be cropped for a square ratio
even if the Facebook profile image appears as a square on your Page, it will appear in a circular pattern in the feed and ads.

Image size for Twitter (profile, cover, posts…)

Banner photo (cover): 1500 x 500
Profile photo: 400 x 400 (100 KB maximum), displayed as a circle in 200 x 200
Image for a post: choose a 1:2 format. So 880 x 440 recommended, will be displayed in 590 x 295. Minimum: 420 x 210, maximum: 1024 x 512
Image of a map (Twitter Card): 506 x 254 (ratio 1.99:1)
Namely:
- Supported Formats : PNG, JPEG and GIF
- EXIF data is deleted when importing to Twitter.

Instagram

Image size for Instagram (profile, cover, posts…)

For Instagram, the square format (ratio 1:1) is everywhere! Even if it is possible to send rectangular images (the Instagram landscape format is 1080 x 566), it is not recommended because they will have less visibility.
Profile picture: 110 x 110
It is advisable to upload a 1080 x 1080 photo.
Thumbnail photo (preview): 161 x 161
Large photo thumbnail: 410 x 410
Photo in lightbox: 2048 x 2048 maximum (but only 612 x 612 if the photo is uploaded from the phone’s camera without using the Instagram app)
Photo in the stream: 510 x 510
Photo for stories: 1080 x 1920

YouTube

Image size for YouTube (profile, cover, posts…)

Illustration photo of the channel (Cover Art) :
- max size on TV: 2560 x 1440 (2 MB max) 16:9 format
- computer size: 2560 x 423 max, 1546 x 423 recommended
- movable size: occupies the width of the screen, 1546 x 423 recommended
- shelf size: 1855 x 423
Custom video thumbnail: 1280 x 720 (2 MB max), 16:9 ratio recommended, in JPEG, PNG, GIF or BMP format
Profile picture (channel icon): 800 x 800 recommended, displayed in 98 x 98, in JPEG, PNG, BMP or GIF (but no animated GIF file)
