The Google Account includes access to so many services, such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Play Drive or Calendar. With all these services, Google wants to make itself indispensable and become the centre of your use of the web. But for some reason, we may want to delete our account.
The Mountain View firm does take a few biases that can make some people grind their teeth, mainly on the use of personal data. Knowing how to delete your Google account can also be useful in case of a security breach or to have a better control of your e-reputation.
Although it’s not their cup of tea, Google allows its users to easily delete their account.
How to delete your Google Account
To completely delete your Google Account you should first save some data that you could have stored in your Google Account and nowhere else (such as a document on Drive or an important email on Gmail).
After checking that everything was kept warm, go to myaccount.google.com. You’ll find the management page for everything related to your Google Account in the “Data and Personalization” tab.
Scroll down to the “Upload, Delete or Plan the Future of Your Data” category and click “Delete a Service or Account” .
At this point, four options are available. You can delete a service (to disable only Gmail, YouTube, or any other Google service while keeping your account), download an archive of your Google data, schedule a deletion of your data if you leave your account for a period of time, and finally delete your Googleaccount. When you click “Delete your account,” Google may ask you for your password again. After entering it, you will arrive on a page with a summary of the data that will be deleted. Scroll down the page and all that’s left to do is to accept the twoconditions that confirm that you want to delete your Google Account and you will continue to pay any potential financial obligations associated with your account.
Google will say goodbye by confirming the deletion of your account and how to restore it (as long as it was recently deleted).
Your Google Account is now deleted. Of course, you will be able to recreate one if you feel like it, but in the meantime, enjoy your life away from the giant of Mountain View!
