Calculate termination charges
In principle, the subscriptions sold by Free Mobile are non-binding. The cancellation fee is free of charge and therefore there is no outstanding balance. However, the operator has in the past launched “ promotionnelles ” offers with a commitment period of up to 24 months. In this case, the rule for calculating the termination fee is as follows: the totality of the remaining monthly payments for the first year, then 25% of the remaining monthly payments for the second year of the commitment.
For a flat rate of 10 euros per month with 24 months of commitment of which 11 months have already passed, the cancellation fee is therefore 40 euros (10 euros for the last month of the first year, and 25% of the following year, i.e. 30 euros).
Cancel while keeping your phone number
If you wish to cancel your mobile package while keeping your phone number the procedure is very simple thanks to the well-framed number portability in France. First you need to select your new operator, the easiest way to do this is to consult our package comparator, which will help you choose the best offer of the moment.
You must then find out your RIO, the unique identification number that allows your new operator to retrieve your line number. To do this, simply dial 3179, a free number that will tell you your RIO number and the remaining commitment period. This information will also be sent by SMS once the call is completed.
All that remains to be done is to take out a new subscription, giving the new operator his mobile phone number and RIO identifier. It will then take care of the portability and termination of the old subscription, without any additional steps on your part.
