Game of Thrones : What if Bran and the Night King Killed the Same Person?

If one wants to measure the richness of a fictional universe one can do so by observing the theories circulating about it among the fans. Taking into account this scale, Game of Thrones is undoubtedly one of the richest universes we have today ! Indeed, a new theory has just been born and this one concerns the mysterious character of Bran Stark. Warning, this article may contain spoilers.

Bran is the King of the Night?

After a long wandering in the snowy North and beyond the Wall, Bran has returned to the forefront of the series and is now a key character in the story. Even if he is discreet, we know that he knows everything and we also know that his power has cut him off from the rest of the world, depriving him of affection and sympathy by his entourage who remain very disturbed by this change.

It is obvious that the Bran Stark who fled Winterfell with his little brother is quite different from the one who returned. Everyone was expecting moving hugs with her two sisters, but it was a rather formal reunion that took place. Sansa even offered to make him Lord of Winterfell, since he is now Ned Stark’s sole male heir. To which the young man replied:

I could never be Lord of Winterfell. I’ll never be Lord of anything. I am the Three-Eyed Crow.

Bran shows no emotion in front of his two sisters whom he hasn’t seen for several years, but also in front of Meera who saved his life many times and whose brother sacrificed himself for Bran! How do you explain this total lack of empathy? Does his powers make him that insensitive or something?

According to an American YouTubeer, the explanation is quite different: Bran is also the King of the Night. The two characters are one. Bran would have lived mentally and physically in different times and places in Westeros. His power of the Crow would have given him the opportunity to destroy the White Walkers several times without ever succeeding. According to this theory, he even warned King Aerys Targaryen II of the urgency of destroying these creatures, which would have driven him mad!

The Mad King would therefore have been one of those people that Bran tried to manipulate in time to destroy the White Walkers without succeeding. He would therefore have returned to the time when the Children of the Forest created the Night King and would have taken over his body. When Bran sees the scene, he reacts as if the physical pain were his own. Also, the man tied to the tree and Bran are in the same position during the scene.

So yes, it sounds a bit far-fetched, but don’t forget that in season 1, we tried to kill Bran with a Valyrian steel dagger! The only one capable of destroying a White Walker. Moreover, this famous dagger reappeared through LittleFinger earlier in the season, is it just a coincidence?
