Death Stranding Sequel Is “In Negotiations,” According to Norman Reedus

Norman Reedus, the actor who plays protagonist Sam in Kojima’s upcoming game, Death Stranding, has revealed that a sequel is “in negotiations.”

Some have called Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding a walking simulator, but it hasn’t stopped the game from gaining a large fanbase because to its stunning graphics, combat and stealth gameplay, and cast of famous actors including Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) and Léa Seydoux (Spectre).

Fortunately for Death Stranding enthusiasts, there are now indications that a sequel may be on the way.

Norman Reedus, who plays Death Stranding protagonist Sam Bridges on The Walking Dead, recently informed Brazilian movie site AdoroCinema that a sequel to the game is already in the works.

“Right now, [the game] is under negotiations,” Reedus said. “Yay!” exclaims the narrator.

There’s a chance Reedus is mistaking the forthcoming director’s cut version of Death Stranding for the PlayStation 5 with a genuine sequel, but a sequel for a game that’s sold over 5 million copies doesn’t sound too far-fetched. Kojima has directed and written numerous Metal Gear games, so he’s no stranger to sequels.

The PS5 version of Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be published on September 24, 2021. This is a completely remastered and extended version of the game that will take use of Sony’s next-generation technology and include additional content including “more weapons, equipment, and vehicles, a range of new modes, objectives, and locations to explore, expanded narratives, and UI improvements.”

Last week, a new teaser trailer for Death Stranding’s director’s cut was revealed. It’s unclear if any of the new features will make it to the PC version.

[…] Following the release of the original Death Stranding, the Death Stranding Director’s Cut was completely rebuilt and created from the ground up. The goal was to provide new material that would further extend the environment inside Death Stranding while improving the core game experience, from the Firing Range region to the extra missions to the all-new Fragile Circuit racing mode.
