Following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, fans of the Merc with a Mouth have been concerned about what Deadpool 3 would look like, but writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have assured them that the character will keep his off-color comedy. Because they now have access to even more MCU stuff, there may be even more jokes. Deadpool 3 will be R-rated, according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige “Deadpool is going to be Deadpool,” remarked Wernick, as Reese underlined Disney’s backing for the crew.

When questioned about their new Marvel house, Reese answers, “It’s a delight.” “It’s an amazing joy to get the band back together, to have a fresh background in the MCU with new characters, new villains, and all that stuff.” You know, it’s never been a marriage we expected to happen—Fox and Disney were a different entity from our creative process. But, or at least, we’re trying to locate the serendipity and gold in that circumstance.”

“Don’t be concerned,” Reese says. “They’ve been quite helpful in that sense.” When it comes to a specific joke, if we cross a boundary, we could hear, ‘Maybe not that joke,’ at some time. But I believe they’ve been tremendously supportive of what we’re doing, because we’ve been doing it separately for a long time and I believe they’ve seen our success and had their own, even bigger success. So, fingers crossed, it’ll be a match made in heaven. But we absolutely have their support, and that’s a wonderful feeling.”
