It was one of the most eagerly awaited games of the year, but we’ll have to wait a little longer. Initially scheduled for next April, Cyberpunk 2077 will not arrive before September 17, 2020. The studios explain on Twitter that they want to take the time and tweet the final details.
We’re not going to Night City right away. The most awaited RPG of the year is going to be a little late, and it’s CD Projekt who announces it on its Twitter account Initially scheduled for next April, Cyberpunk 2077 will finally not arrive before September 17, 2020 on PC, Stadia, Xbox One and PS4. The reason for the delay? The willingness of the studios to fine-tune the final details. “We’re at the stage where the game is over and playable, but there’s still work to be done. Night City is massive, full of stories, places and content, and because of the size and complexity of the project, we need more time to test and correct it. We want Cyberpunk 2077 to be our flagship achievement, and postponing the launch gives us the precious months we need to make the game perfect.”
It must be said that the project has been in the pipes of CD Projekt for quite a while. Started in 2012, the development had been impacted by the imminent release of The Witcher 3 and had already accumulated quite a backlog. It seems that this is now the final stretch for the game adapted from the role-playing game Cyberpunk 2020. History will transport us to the free state of California, and more precisely to the futuristic metropolis of Night City. By 2077, humans can increase their capabilities through implants. One of them, an outlaw mercenary, is looking for a unique implant that would be the key to immortality. Exploring the megalopolis will require personalization of cybernetic equipment and each choice will have a direct impact on the story. As a reminder, Keanu Reeves will lend his voice and features to the character of Johnny Silverhand, a rock legend who has fallen into disuse and who should play an important role in the plot.
This year will not be an easy year for gamers, and Cyberpunk 2077 is not the only game delayed in 2020. Marvel’s Avengers and Final Fantasy VII Remake have met the same fate and are postponed to September 4 and April 10 respectively.
