Call of Duty Modern Warfare breaks records. The purists of the franchise have given the game a welcome as good as could be hoped for. Activation gave a first update on the statistics of the new FPS, which records the biggest boot up for a Call of Duty on the current generation of consoles.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available since October 25th. After several years of trial and error, Activision has found the right recipe to boost the euphoria around its franchise. The publisher is banking on a return to basics, with the added bonus of a new engine offering an immersive and photo-realistic experience. His choice paid off and the first statistics confirm the monumental success of the new game which, after three days of availability had already generated ,600 million dollars inrevenues. That’s 100 million more than Call of Duty Black Ops 4 over the same period.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare: no surprise, the game is a hit
For its first three days of availability, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which requires 15 GB on a PC, has broken several records that Activision does not hesitate to quote in a press release published on its website. To sum up, the game is:
- The best start to 2019 for a premium game
- The biggest boot ever on a PC for a Call of Duty
- The best start for a Call of Duty on the current generation of consoles
- It broke the PS4 digital sales record in three days on PS4 via PlayStation Network
- Achieves best digital sales performance in Activision’s history
Finally, the success of Call of Duty Modern Warfare is not limited to sales. Indeed, players spend more hours playing there than any Call of Duty in the last six years. And since we’re talking about a record, Activision even took the liberty of comparing the game’s start-up revenues to the new Joker movie, boasting that it almost doubled its revenues generated on the first weekend.
