Black Mirror Season 5: Trailer, Release Date, Miley Cyrus and Everything You Need to Know

Guns, cell phones creepy robots… Black Mirror is planning its big comeback. Season 5 of Charlie Brooker’s anthology series has come out of the shadows with a trailer that confirms the presence of Miley Cyrus alongside Anthony Mackie (Falcon in Avengers), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta in Aquaman) and a few other surprises including a second member of the Marvel team. In addition to the Release Date — June 5 — we know that only three stories will be told, as in the first two seasons broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK. Interestingly enough, all three episodes are believed to have come from Brooker’s own pen.

In addition to presenting different members of the cast and a few themes that should be addressed as the stories unfold, the Season 5 trailer confirms that Black Mirror’s strong musical choices are still relevant today. Actor Andrew Scott is tormented by men’s constant attachment to arms. Mackie’s character seems to be having some difficulties in his marriage — partly because he’s interested in other women in pictures on his phone. A friendless teenager enters into a conflictual relationship with a small robot.

Writer Charlie Brooker is not done with the world of video games A passage introduces us to the character of Klementieff who fights in a Street Fighter esque digital arena. Topher Grace is also there, with an orange tan, a ponytail and a sinister look on her face. It remains to be seen if these things are related to his mood. To complete this impressive cast, Miley Cyrus uses her multiple talents to play a pop singer…

Release date

As confirmed in the trailer, the release date is June 5.

Season 3 arrived on Netflix in October 2016. Season 4 in December 2017. Season 5 has been postponed to accommodate the filming of Bandersnatch, which was very labour-intensive. Doing Bandersnatch was like doing several episodes at once, writer Charlie Brooker told RadioTimes.com. It was also Netflix’s suggestion: As it expanded, it became clear that the way to do this was to do it on its own.

San Junipero Suite

San Junipero 2… will not take place. Sorry, Kelly and Yorkie fans. Despite the series’ penchant for including references to previous episodes, many of which can be found in Bandersnatch. As for the sequel to San Junipero, no, certainly not in its present form – I don’t think we would revisit these characters unless we had a very, very good reason, confirmed Brooker.
