Lewandowski scored 41 Bundesliga goals last season, breaking Gerd Muller’s record of 40 goals in a league season, showing how prolific he still is. The Pole also scored twice for his country at Euro 2020 this summer, despite the team losing by one point in the group stage.

Bayern are looking for a replacement for the striker and are reportedly considering acquiring 22-year-old Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven. Although Gakpo plays primarily as a winger, new coach Julian Nagelsmann could use him as a false number 9, much like he used Dani Olmo at RB Leipzig.

Gakpo got his first game form for the Netherlands at Euro 2020 when he came off the bench in the match against North Macedonia. In his own country he played 65 matches in the Eredivisie and scored 29 goals.
