La Banque Postale will allow its customers to set up their Visa card with their smartphone in just one click, at any time of the day or night. Thanks to a redesign of the application, you will be able to change thepayment and withdrawal limits, for example. The deployment of this revised application is scheduled for Monday, 1 April 2019.

The 8 million Visa cards of the Banque Postale (Réalys, Classic, Premier, Platinum, Infinite) will be fully configurable via an application, report our colleagues at Le Parisien. “We now have one of the most comprehensive offers on the market. This is one of the first projects where we are passing the shoulder in front of very large networks “ proudly assures Franck Oniga, marketing director of the bank.

In concrete terms, the new application will allow you to block your bank card in the event of loss or theft, to modify the payment and withdrawal limits, in the event of a large expenditure or to activate/deactivate online purchases. These options allow consumers to protect their assets, for example in the event of a phishing attack.

Obviously, these options are not new at all. They have already been offered for a long time by online banks such as Revolut, N26 or Orange Bank “It actually goes further than the offers of traditional banks, with quite practical functionalities, which we are rather used to seeing in online banks” recalls Maxime Chipoy, head of BestBank, an online comparator of the various banks.

Nevertheless, the blocking/unblocking of the Visa card is already offered by some traditional banks, such as “the Savings Banks or in the Banques Populaires”, says Laure Prenat, director of Panorabanques, another bank comparator. It also believes that some of the functionalities put forward by the Banque Postale are somewhat useless, such as the activation/deactivation of contactless payment. What do you think of these options? Do you find them useful?
