Good news for fans ofAvatar: The Last Airbender as Netflix prepares a place for him in its catalogue. But beware, is not the anime series, but a live-action series. Thus, this new project will be the occasion for the duo Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, already at the controls of the original work, to carry out this new adaptation. A project that is likely to be bold.
If for the moment we don’t have more information about this live-action version ofAvatar, Netflix has nevertheless started teasing this reboot by publishing a first visual on which we can see Aang accompanied by Appa, his bison flying in a pastel landscape.
To give us even more desire and titillate our impatience to discover this new series, Konietzko and DiMartino explained that they wanted to go further in the characters, the story, the action and the construction of the world by taking advantage of the excellent work of each one on the original animated series . This is promising!
In addition, the showrunners underlined the fact that the casting of this new project will be composed ofcoloured characters. Contrary to the adaptation signed M. Night Shyamalan released in 2010 and which had been criticized :
We can’t wait to see Aang’s world as cinematic as we always imagined it would be. All with a culturally appropriate cast that won’t be white-washed.
