A new Atelier game is coming out! Are you excited? I know I am! I have been playing Atelier games since they first came out, and I have loved each of them. The stories are always fun and interesting, the art is always lovely, and the gameplay is always fantastic. I have been looking forward to this new one for a while now, and I am sure I am not the only one. There is so much to look forward to--from the characters to the story, and the gameplay. I am really excited for this new game, and I am also excited to see what everyone else thinks about it.
The Atelier series is one of Namco Bandai’s more popular games in Japan. The game’s Japanese title, Atelier Lydie & Suelle (アトリエ リディア＆スール デルフ), roughly translated to “Atelier Lydie & Suelle’s Laboratory”, is actually a play on the words “alchemy” and “atelier”, which is a workshop. The Atelier series is developed by Gust Co., Ltd.
Atelier Lydie & Suelle was released on PS Vita in early 2018 with a strong and instantly memorable central story about a young alchemist named Lydie as she hunts for ingredients to make a mysterious potion that could bring her dead mother back to life.

Just before the release of the Mysterious DX trilogy update on the 22nd. April 2021, Koei Tecmo has announced that the original versions of the three Atelier games will be discontinued on the same date. Atelier Sophie and Atelier Firis have been removed from Steam and PlayStation 4, while Lydia & Suelle has been removed from Steam, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It wasn’t clear at the time, but the PlayStation Vita versions of all three games remain available, presumably because the DX versions weren’t released for the Vita. The old and new Atelier games are still available, confirming that the removal of the Mysterious trilogy is not due to music or licensed content.
About the game
The DX versions of each game are available individually and as a bundle. Each of the two games contains a large amount of previously released DLC, although Koei Tecmo has not confirmed whether all previous DLC will be available for each game. Reader DehrySA also pointed out to us that only the original versions are compatible between the PlayStation 4 and Vita, and also support older operating systems on Steam. Lydie & Suelle’s studio: In The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings, players can synthesize items for immediate use during battles with the Combat Mix and Extra Mix, each of which opens up a new set of strategic options. Battle Mix focuses on creating special battle recipes that improve weapons or drastically change battlefield conditions to give the player a tactical advantage. Extra Mix uses pre-synthesized elements and allows the player to add new features in a way that was not possible before. With Extra Mix, you can make a huge bomb that has a bigger blast radius and hits much harder than a normal bomb. Alchemy is your friend, so experimenting with different ingredients can lead to unique results, and the many different items adapt to each player’s play style. Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings features the expected return of key characters from previous Mysterious games: Atelier Sophie and Atelier Firis. Bring back the more experienced Sophie, Plachta, Phiris and her protective sister Liana to help Lidi and Suelle. As the twins work hard at their skills, they discover a mysterious painting, and when they reach it, the girls find themselves in a world of rare materials perfect for alchemy. This fateful accident becomes the beginning of a whole new adventure that leads them to new characters and new experiences that will bring them closer to their goal of becoming the best studio in the country.

Atelier Sophie, and Atelier Firis were delisted on Steam and PlayStation 4 while Lydie & Suelle was delisted on Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. It was uncertain at the time but the PlayStation Vita versions of all three titles remain available, presumably because the “DX” versions were not released for the Vita. Older and newer Atelier titles remain available confirming that the delistings of the “Mysterious” trilogy were not related to licensed music or content.
