Annie’s analysis application reveals the rankings of the most popular applications and games of the past decade. The study is based on data from the Apple Store as of December 31, 2011, and Google Play as of January 2012. In terms of downloads, Facebook dominates the market. The social network comes in first place, right in front of the sister application Messenger. The group also finds itself on the third step of the podium, with the subsidiary company WhatsApp. Mark Zuckerberg’s industry is booming with Instagram, which joined the conglomerate in 2012, in fourth place. In fifth place, the little ghost of Yellow Snapchat comes out on top and defeats Tik Tok. The Chinese application, created in 2016, is in sixth place, just ahead of UC Browser, a Chinese mobile browser. Google and its Youtube are at the penultimate place. Twitter closes the gap, the little bluebird scoops the tenth and last place.

When it comes to spending on App Store Netflix is the king of the pack. The streaming service consolidates its position as market leader and is right in front of Tinder. If the latter is free, it is indeed possible to take out a premium subscription on it. In third place, the Pandora audio player came in ahead of Tencent Video, a Chinese streaming video site The Japanese voicemail and calling application, LINE, is in fifth place, just ahead of the Chinese site iQiyi. Spotify music streaming service beats Youtube to seventh place. HBO Now and Kwai (Video Editing application) close the ranking.

On the gaming side, Subway Surfers is in first place. Candy Crush Saga and Temple Run 2 are second and third respectively. My Talking Tom stops at the steps of the leading trio, just in front of Clash of Clans. For the little alien will have conquered the nostalgic Tamagotchi fans and won sixth place. Hill Climb Racing, Minion Rush and Fruit Ninja complete the standings. It’s 8 Ball Pool at the bottom of the standings, in tenth place.

Finally, when it comes to spending money on games, Clash of Clans is in first place, closely followed by Monster Strike and Candy Crush Saga. Players also don’t hesitate to invest in their Puzzle & Dragons games, which is in fourth place. The RPG Fate: Grand Order and the MOBA Honour of Kings are in fifth and sixth place respectively. Fantasy Westward Journey beats Pokémon Go to the punch, the Augmented Reality game finds itself two short steps away from the last place, occupied by Clash Royale. Game of War – Fire Age therefore holds ninth place.

The ranking is not very surprising when it comes to games or applications. Unsurprisingly, Facebook is the market leader and is doing better than Google and its applications. The Chinese applications market is not to be outdone on the games side, with several titles in the ranking. Big surprise, however, Pokémon Go, which despite huge scores at its launch, does not dethrone the Subway Surfer and Candy Crush Saga masters. Even more surprisingly, it does not appear in the ranking of the most downloaded titles. It is a good game however, because its fans are not afraid to invest in order to obtain a very good Pokédex. We will also note the absence of the much-awaited Wizard Unites, which will not have convinced fans of the little English wizard.
