How do you predict when a market will open?

What to watch when the stock market opens is the stuff of financial market folklore. As the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the NASDAQ composite and the S&P 500 see their first trades on Wall Street so too do hundreds of other stocks that are traded on the New York Stock Exchange This is where the bulk of the action happens, and so we are watching even more intently than usual. Many people use a technique called moving average analysis to predict when to buy and sell stocks. It’s a fairly simple system that involves looking at a stock’s history and making a prediction based on a few numbers. For example, if you notice that a stock’s five-day moving average is lower than its 20-day moving average, you might choose to buy the stock. If the stock’s 20-day moving average is lower than its 10-day moving average, you might choose to sell. If you look at the stock’s history, you can see that the stock tends to move in a certain direction when the moving averages cross each other.
