The stock market opened higher on Wednesday as investors welcomed signs of more economic growth and made a positive start to the week.
The market is a fairly evenly balanced system. When one company goes up, the rest tend to follow, but when one company goes down, it tends to drag the rest with it. With that said, the companies that have been on the biggest upticks so far this year include AMC Networks, Salesforce, and HP. They are all performing very well. AMC Networks has been experiencing a big upturn after its recent acquisition of OTT service Shudder for $75 million, and Salesforce has been unstoppable. Both of these companies are on pace for huge sales increases this year, and it’s hard to assign a specific reason for this. The biggest culprit in Salesforce’s growth has been its adoption of the marketing cloud,
For the week that started at the beginning of last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average held steady at around 18,000. While that sounds like a good number, it’s actually slightly lower than the year-to-date high set in January. That’s troubling, because the Dow is just over its 10,000 level, making a decline a very real possibility. But with no clear catalyst for the decline, the real question is whether the Dow will fall by the end of this week.. Read more about how is the stock market doing and let us know what you think.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you predict when a market will open?
What to watch when the stock market opens is the stuff of financial market folklore. As the Dow Jones Industrial Average, the NASDAQ composite and the S&P 500 see their first trades on Wall Street so too do hundreds of other stocks that are traded on the New York Stock Exchange This is where the bulk of the action happens, and so we are watching even more intently than usual. Many people use a technique called moving average analysis to predict when to buy and sell stocks. It’s a fairly simple system that involves looking at a stock’s history and making a prediction based on a few numbers. For example, if you notice that a stock’s five-day moving average is lower than its 20-day moving average, you might choose to buy the stock. If the stock’s 20-day moving average is lower than its 10-day moving average, you might choose to sell. If you look at the stock’s history, you can see that the stock tends to move in a certain direction when the moving averages cross each other.
Do stocks go up when market opens?
The stock market has been on a wild roller-coaster this year, and as it opens for the new year, investors will be hoping for better gains. For the market to rebound, it must overcome a number of headwinds. The most important of these is to be seen in the Federal Reserve’s decision on interest rates It will be hard to see the markets rally when the Fed has started to dial back its stimulative policies. After a rough start to the year, markets are rebounding and some of the sector leaders are leading the way. The S&P 500 is up by 8.52% in 2017, and the NASDAQ is up by 12.79%. With such a strong performance and performance across many sectors, both companies and sectors will likely be talking points for investors when the market opens today.
