A Good Worker Is Hard to Find

There are no easy answers, but two things can help you find a good worker: be prepared to be willing to look for alternatives that may not be right for you, and offer a fair payment.

The quote below, attributed to Abraham Lincoln, succinctly explains the concept of a good worker: “I don’t care whether a man is a good worker or not. I want him to be a good worker and nothing else … I don’t want him to be a good worker and a lazy man.”

If youre looking for a job, you need to keep yourself updated. You need to stay up to date on all recent happenings, and the latest trends so you can stand out from the crowd and make yourself stand out from the crowd. You need to be able to answer any question the interviewer may have, in an effective and efficient manner. When it comes to finding a job, you need to be prepared with any information they may ask.

However, the U.S. labor market performed disappointingly in May for the second time in a row, according to a report released Friday by the Department of Labor. This is what happens when the government pays Americans not to work. Employers added 559,000 jobs this month, which sounds great until you realize that in May, 1.5 million fewer workers reported being unable to work because their employer closed or lost business due to the pandemic. Most of these workers should have found new jobs, but they did not. The civilian labor force fell by 53,000 in May, and the number of working men over 20 fell by 8,000. The employment rate dropped to 61.6%, while the unemployment rate fell from 6.1% to 5.8%. All this confirms that it is becoming increasingly difficult for employers to find people willing to work. Weekly initial jobless claims are down, dipping below 400,000 this week for the first time since the pandemic began. However, the number of persistent claims has barely fallen since March. What happened? Occam’s razor attributes it to the fact that in March. Biden The government and Congress have given Americans another pile of money – without them having to work for it. Raising unemployment benefits by $300 a week is a problem because millions of Americans can earn more while sitting on the bench. These wages for the unemployed are not subject to payroll tax, unlike wage income. This is in addition to regular unemployment benefits and new or expanded benefits, such as the $3,000 child tax credit, additional ObamaCare subsidies and $1,400 in One-Stop Health checks. Again, it doesn’t take any work. Economists Casey Mulligan, E.J. Antoni и Steve Moore The new study estimates that eligible households in 21 U.S. states can earn up to $25 an hour in cash without working. In 19 states, the maximum benefit equates to a wage of $100,000 per year for a family of four with two unemployed parents. Not working is a rational economic decision. The Democrats had been warned that this would happen, but they went ahead with the payments anyway. We think they wanted to force employers to raise wages to compete with the government – to de facto raise the minimum wage. And wages are rising: up 24% year-on-year since March in the leisure and hospitality sector. This is good for workers, but it puts a strain on small businesses still recovering from the pandemic. Some people just can’t afford to pay more. It should also be noted that this is how Universal Basic Income is likely to work in practice. The salary threshold or wage requirement for entry-level workers, especially young and unskilled workers, will increase significantly. Add to that travel and other costs, and the loss of free time, and more and more people are choosing not to work. This means fewer opportunities to move up the income ladder and greater dependence on the state. The progressives probably thought so too. The good news is that so far 25 states have said they will not accept the $300 increase in unemployment benefits this month or next. No Democrat-led state has done so, yet President Biden said Friday that he agreed that the subsidy for those who don’t want to work should end on Labor Day, as planned. Those days are long gone. Wonderland: By paying people not to work, Biden’s Democrats will damage the American work ethic for a generation. Images : Getty Images/iStockphoto Copyright ©2020 Dow Jones & Company, Inc.
